Politics: Left, Right, and Center National, state, regional, and local politics. Who's doing what to whom, and what you can do about it. How-to-get-action messages are encouraged. "How the government fucked up my life" stories are encouraged. Sharing new methods for cheating on taxes is encouraged. Sample "letters to congresscritters" are encouraged. Apathy and "I can't do anything" posts are discouraged. Left, right, centrist, or any other form of political-economic systems are all up for discussion. Be prepared to defend yourself, or at least have a good line of bullshit ready. Extensive quoting of economists and philosophers is frowned upon. Default 39!

If you live in the Bay area, you should already know what I'm talking about.

Today, September 20, the San Francisco Unified School District gave 39 teachers their marching orders, some of whom had been teaching in the same school for over 22 fucking years. This after the new Superintendent comes in, gives all the teachers raises, and promises NOT to cut any teaching staff. The reasoning is basically that some classes were slightly smaller then the size required by the state, so we didn't technically need as many teachers as we had.

Never Mind that You're ripping out a teacher from a classroom in the beginning of the school year,

Never Mind that california public schools are still overcrowded

just rip out the teachers.

I just wish the people in this country gave a fuck about it's youth, The amount of laws we've voted in that target and supress youth are astonishing, it seems as if every other person in this state besides me thinks that we should skip the whole schooling process entirely and just send kids straight to jail...

errrg...

Woh, thats tragic.

<rant>

You know he is just out for his money. He obviously doesn't care about the education of the children. Discipline, illusionment, and promoting how cool the football team is, seems to be the only real thing most schools care about. Its a little bit to cult like if you ask me. They seem to consentrate on what i called "dronification" the process of taking inquizitive children, and turning them into drones. The purpose is so we can all fit into our little spots in society and be productive little individuals. Cause no problems, believe everything you hear, etc. Questioning our government and economy, questions how our power structure is setup. Capitalism is just an extention of our government. Questions have the potental to cause change. This is bad for people in power, i.e. big cooperations, government, just to name a few. School is the way to get the majority to conform and the people with money or political ties can have their children, goto private schools. Not saying that people can't put their children in private schools, its just not practical.
Also once the cycle is completed a couple of times we have something really interesting. This "dronification" becomes a tradition. It would be a down right american. For the reason that the new politians would know no better.

</rant>

Of course these are overgeneralisations, but I can't help to notice how they fit in.

School in the states suck. I went to public school in the states through 8th grade and learned pratically nothing except that i hate the states and all the fucking conformists. Now im in a private school in costa rica. In the states my class sizes ranged from 28-38. NOw my sizes range from 5-18. i didnt want to go to this school and my dad didnt want me to either cause the people who go there are rich kids whos parents are embassadors, some high office in government or heads of multinational corporations. And im anti government and corporations and my dad thought if i go to some rich school then the people will hate me cause im not rich and cause my parents dont waste their lives in fucking offices. It is true with some people that they are conforming snobs but there are people who hate what their parents work for, and others like what their parents do but are nice people and dont care that i hate government or what their parents stand. The school supposidly is non related to politcs, supposidly anyway. For my entrance essay i wrote about why i hate corps and govt, which worried my mother cause she thought they wouldnt except me. But they did and so now i go to school with a bunch of rich kids but i dont have to conform. I still hold my ideas...i would dare to say the people are better in CR cause in the states most people hated me... i didnt conform...here they dont care. probably because im a gringo and they cant compare how rebellious i am to others. I am learning a hell of alot more here than in the states.

I do miss having anarchist friends and friends that were as crazy as hell, but ill find some here eventually....maybe well go spray paint all the billboards that are ruining the beautiful tropical landscape.....

School has never been a place to find an education.

school is....well....dumb....(wow ive started off so intelligently)...school is annoying but it makes me sleep and catch up on all my reading...im three weeks into the school year and ive read walden by thoreau (time number 10 i think) paradoxes of freedom and most of the dao de ching...oh and ive started to read don quixoite in spanish...fun fun....but go to school...have fun...oh and join the computer club because if you put a lame little veneer that you want to learn the good things about the school system its makes bringing down your school system that much easier....its all cool....be desructive....make bongs in chemistry....come on...be creative.

Maybe if the majority of the voters in this country actually cared about the youth then school wouldn't suck so horribly for you guys...
