Politics: Left, Right, and Center National, state, regional, and local politics. Who's doing what to whom, and what you can do about it. How-to-get-action messages are encouraged. "How the government fucked up my life" stories are encouraged. Sharing new methods for cheating on taxes is encouraged. Sample "letters to congresscritters" are encouraged. Default Aryan Nations Lawsuit

Ok folks, I do not support the bogus racial dogma of the Aryan Nations, but this latest lawsuit involving them is going to backfire.

Let me explain.

The Southern Poverty Law Center is suing the Aryan Nations organization on the behalf of a woman and her child who were allegedly assaulted by A.N. members near the main A.N. compound in Idaho.

While it may seem like a good idea to bankrupt these racist thugs by suing them blind and taking all their money and lands, this tactic is going to backfire and cause more harm than good.

Remember back when the Klu Klux Klan was a unified organization with a central authority? The United Klans of America (the largest and most dangerous Klan group at the time) was sued silly by a black woman who had lost a loved one to U.K.A. violence. The U.K.A. lost the case and was bankrupted - officially killing the klan. Or so it seemed.

As hindsight has shown, the Klan was not defeated, but merely pushed into the underground. The Klan fragmented in dozens of independent cells which answered to no central authority. Now the movements and activites of the Klan or harder to track and predict. The Klan is thriving now and regaining momentum and could possibly turn out to be more dangerous than the original united Klan ever was.

This is the same with the Aryan Nations, but more so. The Aryan Nations are primarily concentrated in their homebase compound in rural Idaho. Like rats in a cage, their are out in the daylight for everyone to see and watch. Even behind their locked and guarded gates, federal law enforcement agents can penetrate their organization with virtual impunity.

If Aryan Nations are bankrupted, they too will fragment into dozens of independent cells. The rat cage will be let open so-to-speak and they will scurry under the floorboards and multiply unchecked and unmonitored.

This is potentially very dangerous and I think the Southern Poverty Law Center is being very short-sighted about this whole affair. We as a people are to quick to litigate and legislate and the detrimental effects will be felt by our children.

That's my 2 cents at least.

it's the mentality that you're right and everyone else is wrong and so they shouldn't be able to speak that pisses me off. Everyone get's their turn, especially if I dislike them, because that's what this countries about, and I have to say I really disagree with the statment that it's best to "bankrupt these racist thugs". Opression of their speech. I'm a jew, I'd probably be in a cattle car pretty damn quick in their perfect world, but they should be able to say that....

What is truly scary about the statement - "we should bankrupt these racist thugs", is that this is a neo-verbatim quote from a spokesperson for the Southern Poverty Law Center.

If the A.C.L.U. was to come out gunning like that and using provocative language like the S.P.L.C., then everyone would be up in arms and demonizing the A.C.L.U.

The freedoms of speech, open debate, and assembly must not be infringed upon. Period.

When lawyers and judicial systems begin to cross the line from ajudicating law to creating law, then our system of "checks and balances" is seriously flawed or diluted. This is what the S.P.L.C. is attempting to do, enforce a moral/ethical/ideological platform as LAW. This is fascism plain and simple.

Even skinheads and beer-gutted klan-members have the right to assemble and spew their jargon, but when people cross the line between words and actions - such as assaulting others and causing tangible, physical harm then the law must be enforced to protect the equally valid rights of opposing individuals.

The line between democracy and potential fascism is a shadowy and indistinct one - and attornies, judges, prosecutors, and all their auxilliaries are more and more powered by greed and lust for influence. This is leading to a dangerous level of control over every free person's life - as the courts and government dictate not only law, but behavior, beliefs and when to take a shit.

I say leave the fuckers alone, don't bother the racist freaks, don't go near them, don't give them any publicity, and they will probably just get drunk, shoot beer bottles on their property, and leave everyone else alone. To do otherwise is just throwing gasoline on the fire.

That's my four cents worth at least, now you guys owe me 6 cents.

I AGREE WITH JADED FOOL

I believe we should have first amendmant strongly enforced as well as the second amendmant. IT's become in this country that everyone is one sided about a lot of major issues. They don't realize that they were the minority in thinking that way a long time ago, but yet they try to infringe their rights like the opposition would have done to them if it was them on top. What we should do it take away the first amendmant (in my mind) of big mainstream magazines and TV stations. ANd only give it to underground groups or independant groups. BEcause once an entire TV station voices their opinion like NBC no matter what happens they have the majority of America on their mind. If we take away their freedom of speech and leave it all to single individuals, websites, non-advertising magazines and public access channels, churches, independant groups EG: Aryan Nations etc. then i think people will once again think from within. I AM AGAINST AFFIRMATIVE ACTION strongly and most people are for it in my city, whenever a teacher mentions it or i read it in newspapers its for it, they rarely let the other side get viewed and have their right to speak. Kids are being too brainwashed by the media early we should put limits and try to control it, let the parents raise the children not the media.

Have you ever heard of the phrase "too much speach" I hate this phrase. There is no such thing as too much speech. People should be able to say any stupid thing they want. Most of the time people will see you for what you are. I only have a problem when words become actions. I feel people can exercise control over what they say and what they do. Saying is one thing and actually doing it is another. Controlling speech is controlling thought. And i dont need the thought police thank you very much. If you ever start learning another language and begin to think in that language you will also see the thought barriers adopted by a particular language. But im a little off topic no and i shall quit

what's really sad is that in "free speech" country people like this would be no threat. it would be like that one guy that always wants to start a revolution at the coffee table, people listen then laugh at him when they leave.

but when one jackass who can't realize that they pose no real threat to their freedom in any way shape or form has a fit because of what they say, these people become big and are made a threat by the people who wanted to silence them in the first place.

i've never heard of these guys til just now.

it reminds me of the banning of bodycounts song "copkiller", a black man makes a song like that and cops get into an uproar, but nobody said anything when eric clapton did "i shot the sherriff". bodycounts album sold more records in the third year of release because of all the hype then it did in the first two(i am one of the lucky ones who got a copy of it before the deal, hence i have copkiller)

Yeah... sure... i agree that everyone should have a right to free speach and should be able to say what they want... BUT... unfortunately:

quote:
The Southern Poverty Law Center is suing the Aryan Nations organization on the behalf of A WOMAN AND HER CHILD WHO WERE ALLEGEDLY ASSAULTED by A.N. members near the main A.N. compound in Idaho

These guys arent just talking....
