Network (in)Security Interesting hacks and cracks. Info on firewalls, TCP/IP, encryption, networks, and security. The ins and outs of the phone system, caller services, how things work, what's illegal and what's not, cellular phones, beepers, telephony legislation, the PUC, ISDN, taps, who's listening, and switches. Talking about phones, hacking systems, technical advice, and such is completely LEGAL in the United States -- it's covered by the First Amendment. What's illegal is conspiracy to commit a crime. So if you say something like "Meet me at 2am so we can crack a can" or "I changed my cell phone's number myself" you are criminally liable. Stating "You can crack a can by doing thus-and-so" or "If you wanted to change a cell phone's number, you could do it like so" is perfectly OK. Posting passwords, calling card numbers, or credit card numbers is forbidden on this network. Posting such info will get you booted off the net.

If you want to learn it, www.win32asm.cjb.net is a good place to start.

Assembly language is a human version of CPU instruction codes. Any programming language gets translated into assembly, and because of this, if you program in assembly, your programs will almost certainly be a lot faster than a program that is not in assembly. I reckon it's easier that C, but that's just opinion.

It's cool, but difficult. Go learn it.

And what's wrong about what I said anyway? It may be overly simplified, but it's not incorrect

theres a difference between machine code and machine code oriented/similar programming language. Guess why theres a disassembler for EXEs. No one who is into Assembler programming simplifies this. And as far as I remember this is not the first thread where you tried to blend us ...

Nah shit there's a difference between a machine code and assembly, but there isn't much difference. It's only a different representation, push eax instead of 10011010 (or whatever it is). Assembly is a human form of machine code. So assembly is machine code, in a sense. And there's no reason to have such a cry about it.

Depends which platform you are using. Motorola CPUs use a different instruction set than an Intel CPU. What you said wasn't far from the truth with the definition but I think some ones been reading too many tutorials off the net. Go and get a book Skalez!!

That is exactly what EVERY programming language is doing, representing machine code in a human understandable fashion.

You can't use that as an argument as why ASM is much like machine code because with that argument you are saying that C++ is much like machine code as well, and ADA, Java, Delphi, etc.

quote:
push eax instead of 10011010 (or whatever it is)
and if I say int x=10; instead of 10011010 it's same kind of definition, yet it is totally incorrect... which generally means that you can use this "represents machine code" statement as ALL programming languages "represent" machine code.

Alright, point taken, I withdraw my statement, and I change it to "machine code". I was actually referring to the code, not what is actually in the EXE, but that's really irrelevant.

By the way, there is mroe difference between machine and C than machine and assembly by a long way. But I know what you mean.
