Network (in)Security Interesting hacks and cracks. Info on firewalls, TCP/IP, encryption, networks, and security. The ins and outs of the phone system, caller services, how things work, what's illegal and what's not, cellular phones, beepers, telephony legislation, the PUC, ISDN, taps, who's listening, and switches. Talking about phones, hacking systems, technical advice, and such is completely LEGAL in the United States -- it's covered by the First Amendment. What's illegal is conspiracy to commit a crime. So if you say something like "Meet me at 2am so we can crack a can" or "I changed my cell phone's number myself" you are criminally liable. Stating "You can crack a can by doing thus-and-so" or "If you wanted to change a cell phone's number, you could do it like so" is perfectly OK. Posting passwords, calling card numbers, or credit card numbers is forbidden on this network. Posting such info will get you booted off the net.

Default A problem

I took a screen shot of the problem here. http://www.geocities.com/boxingpyro/kfzdbdfkb.JPG

I recently got infected with the sub7 trojan and then bought norton and got rid of it, however a message pop ups on start up saying "cannot find the file kerne132.dl (or one of it's components) Make sure the path and file name are correct and that all required libaries are specified

Also it is proving a problem with microsoft word html editor I think.

So does anyone no how to get rid of this please, i've looked all over the web on google etc but have had no luck. Thanks in advance for any help.

Also does anybody no if "Internet Eraser" is availble to buy in the shops or is it some illegal program? And does it get everything off your comp so even police computer forensics can't find anything. I heard that it speeds your internet connection up to, so i am interested.

-Thanks
Matt

As for your sub7 infection, I dunno, ask norton. The internet eraser: it just deletes the files from the operating system, the data is still there on the harddrive but it is not there for the user to see. The same goes for when you drag stuff to the recycling bin, its not gone, you just can't see it. If you want to completely get rid of it so that the police can't even find it, you must find a program which will not only format your harddrive but also write random 1s and 0s over your disk, this makes sure that the data cannot be recovered because it has been written over, all of it.

Thanks. So this internet eraser that is advertised on the web with the e logo on, does it screw everything up when you re-format, like would you lose word documents etc?

Thanks

back up what you need to back up, but ALWAYS reformat. I can't stress this enough. the SECOND that you think someones compromised your computer, you need to reformat. Because not only do you leave yourself open, but you give them another zombie to fuck with. if possible, keep your documents on floppies or zip, not only do you have a backup that way, but it also makes it easier to pick up where you left off...
