Network (in)Security Interesting hacks and cracks. Info on firewalls, TCP/IP, encryption, networks, and security. The ins and outs of the phone system, caller services, how things work, what's illegal and what's not, cellular phones, beepers, telephony legislation, the PUC, ISDN, taps, who's listening, and switches. Talking about phones, hacking systems, technical advice, and such is completely LEGAL in the United States -- it's covered by the First Amendment. What's illegal is conspiracy to commit a crime. So if you say something like "Meet me at 2am so we can crack a can" or "I changed my cell phone's number myself" you are criminally liable. Stating "You can crack a can by doing thus-and-so" or "If you wanted to change a cell phone's number, you could do it like so" is perfectly OK. Posting passwords, calling card numbers, or credit card numbers is forbidden on this network. Posting such info will get you booted off the net.

BUT WHERE THE FUK IS NETWORK NEIGHBOOR HOOD ON XP?? Plz tell me it woul dbe much appreciated. I wish i had windows 98

Well everyone who has windows and thinks that you can only do Telnet hacks, well you're wrong. You can do another hack called NetBIOS that is very simple.

About network shares
Configuring your connections
Party time
How to get peoples computers

About network shares:

Most security failures are caused by unprotected network shares on Microsoft windows 9X/ME and NT machines.

Configuring your connections:

1) Right click on Network neighbourhood and go to properties
2) First check if NetBEUI is installed, if not then click on Add + protocol +

In the vendors list choose Microsoft then select NetBEUI then press ok if it says restart your computer then do so.

Then go to my computer Dial-up network

Click on your dial up connection right click go to properties

Switch from general tab to the **server types**

Finally

All you need to do is download a Net BIOS scanner. I have got the LEGION scanner, all you need is an IP to scan it, now just hit scan they will come up were it says legion and when you get an IP up all you do is copy the IP go to your browser type it in like this \\212.121.11.67\ that is to see the computer in the browser type \\212.121.11.67\c

And you will go into their C drive. There may be a password, but most configurations retain default passwords. Common ones are:

AWARD BIOS: Award
AWARD_SW
SW_AWARD
AWARD?SW
LKWPETER or lkwpeter
j262
j256
condo

AMI BIOS:

AM
AMI
A.M.I.
AMI_SW
AMI?SW

Unidentified BIOS (maybe Award or AMI for all I can tell):

Syxz
oder
Wodj
bios
setup
cmos
alfaromeo

Just try all of the passwords, one of them will probably work.

The above information is intended to be used as a security process to determine any weakness in networks.

Start/Search/Files or Folders/Enter "Network, neighborhood" It should come up. If it's missing then you have another problem.

In XP, you must use "Network Places." It's in the Start menu. If you want to look for computers, click "View workgroup computers" in the left pane. From there you can go up a directory to view the entire network.

I'm not going to say anything about a "hacker" who can't find things in the Start menu...
