all out pc's at work have win 2000/nt4 ... is there anyway of retrieving the admin password so i can have control of my PC back ????( hes an old fart who dont like peeps messing with their pc's)

i have tried @stake lc04 but you have to be in admin to use it ........please please help

You could just use a key logger on the admins comp, plug it into the back where the keyboard goes.

all you want is the ends, you dont even care how its done. What is the initiative for others to help you? We dont even get the satisfaction of helping you learn something.

1)restart the machine

2)When it's booting up you should see a couple of dos windows

3)At around that point pull out your network cable thing.

4)finish booting and plug it back in.

Maybe that could work, I've never tried it

only if an admin typed in right before and the ctrl+alt+del option is disabled.

Or you could search for the Sam File it is usualy located in the repair directory, just search 4 it, then take it home get a program like l0pht crack and crack the password. if he has tied that down then you will need a ntfs boot disk you can download them then insert the boot disk wile the computer is booting and then go to c:\winnt\repair directory then copy the sam file and there ya go the admin password.

hm i usually do not reply to such posts but i am really kind of bored at work right now and thought i might help a desperate person out ..

if you have win2k or NT installed on your box

1) download netddemsg tool (find a precompiled version @ http://www.mathematik.uni-marburg.de/~stammi/smoke-hq/schridde/tools.html ..

2) open cmd and start netdde via "net start netdde"

3) start netddemsg with command line "netddemsg -s CHAT$ cmd.exe" in CLI.

now another CLI should have popped up running in system context ... depending on your system (NT or 2k) you will just have to start usrmgr, musrmgr or mmc out of the cli running in system context and add yourself to local admin group ...
