I was looking for something fun to do so I tried to connect to #totse without trillian. I failed horribly. I decided to come to #totse and pull together a think tank.
here is the result(this log is practicaly useless and is more just to show you what a #totse think tank looks like, it is also incredibly long).

the rest was in private messaging between me and thoughtriot. After about an hour of wild goose chases because of misleading error messages we finaly got it to work.
How to Use Telnet to Chat in IRC
-------------------------------------
step one: open msdos prompt
step two: type telnet radon.slashnet.org 6667
step three: after it say's found your hostname go to step four
step four: type nick <your username>
step five: type user <your username> <your username> <your username> <your username>
you are now on IRC
things we figured out already and will save you time
--------------------------------------------
1.all irc commands are the same but there is no / needed
2.to post you must use the following format
privmsg #<channel> :<message>
3.It makes like easier if you don't look at the screen while posting.
