| Network (in)Security Interesting hacks and cracks. Info on firewalls, TCP/IP, encryption, networks, and security. The ins and outs of the phone system, caller services, how things work, what's illegal and what's not, cellular phones, beepers, telephony legislation, the PUC, ISDN, taps, who's listening, and switches. Talking about phones, hacking systems, technical advice, and such is completely LEGAL in the United States -- it's covered by the First Amendment. What's illegal is conspiracy to commit a crime. So if you say something like "Meet me at 2am so we can crack a can" or "I changed my cell phone's number myself" you are criminally liable. Stating "You can crack a can by doing thus-and-so" or "If you wanted to change a cell phone's number, you could do it like so" is perfectly OK. Posting passwords, calling card numbers, or credit card numbers is forbidden on this network. Posting such info will get you booted off the net. |

Re: Hacking Sites
bad approach. Though im no hacker I can tell you now you need to learn the legit side of things first. Get you a big ass tcp/ip book and any other manuals you can get your hands on. Have patience.

Re: Hacking Sites
Well if you like hacking and you are a beginner I would recommend "Steal This Computer Book." It's a great book to get you to think better and to better understand the purposes of the net. Also, if you haven't already, watch the movie "Hackers." That will really motivate you to become a hacker. After you understand what you do with your ability then read other books. You will be tempted to try shit you can't handle. I can tell you are pretty impatient and this takes time. So just wait.

hehe, but seriously if you want to learn to hack, learn how to use winduz good, learn how to use unix/linux/etc. good, learn how to program in at least 5 different languages (including C++, Assembly, and my favourite, visual basic ), memorize a few editions of "Upgrading and Repairing PCs" , get a degree in Retroviral Engineering, learn the philosophies of the Zensunni people from the Dune novels, learn to speak EITHER Arabic, Greek, Farsi, Mandarin Chinese, or any language spoken in the cold bits of Northwestern Siberia, play Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri for at least 17 hours straight and then, after you've done all that, sell either your kidney or your soul on Ebay. (In other words, don't bother ). Meh, I can't talk I can only program in VB. But it's a start

Re: Hacking Sites
yeah go learn to program. come back in two years (that should be long enough), then go study all the rfc documents, (that will take you about 5 millenia) and finally go read them again, cuz theyll all be WAY outdated in 5000 years.

Re: Hacking Sites
Interest if the first and foremost thing you will require. Unrelentless interest and a *need* to know, not just a want to know. Reading all the RFCs wont do a damn thing unless you know some of the basics, and telling someone to read all of them when you have not done so yourself if ridiculous. Yes, reading is good, but not all the RFCs, even if it was a joke.
If you desire, you will become (not that I fully desire or have become, im just saying).

Re: Hacking Sites
Cense, I havent been in this forum for a while what the fuck is going on?
ps. Blitz if you really want to learn about how to hack then you must first learn everything else. Real hacking is knowing how something works then this allows you to see its boundaries etc. Read about how things work first then learn though exploits etc how you can use their own construct to hack them. Like Cense says resist the temptation to force yourself to read everything you get your hands on if it is to advanced for you it will serve only to waste your time. Start basic, if you dont have much taught computer knowledge it will be a lot harder for you to get it yourself. Read about basic tcp ip and operating systems etc then move on to services and ports then exploits. And keep going, as you will.

Re: Hacking Sites
yes python is a good language to learn also forget about windows for now and start learning linux or unix. Subscribe to 2600 there is alot to learn and hacking has many different meanings. if u ask the l33t they will tell u one thing then if u go and ask your white hat samuri wannabe they will tell u another. then u ask any programmer and u will get yet another. there really is no difference between hacking and cracking for the most part u are gonna have to crack to hack. unless of course u go with the old school meaning of hacker which really is true a hacker is anyone who can take technology apart and make it do things it was'nt inteded to do. there is alot of research out there so pick a direction what do u want to learn to do then go from there. everything is free u just have to know where to look so screw those people who say nothing in life is free. I get free avacados and free apples and free oranges and free lemons whenever i want !!
