| Network (in)Security Interesting hacks and cracks. Info on firewalls, TCP/IP, encryption, networks, and security. The ins and outs of the phone system, caller services, how things work, what's illegal and what's not, cellular phones, beepers, telephony legislation, the PUC, ISDN, taps, who's listening, and switches. Talking about phones, hacking systems, technical advice, and such is completely LEGAL in the United States -- it's covered by the First Amendment. What's illegal is conspiracy to commit a crime. So if you say something like "Meet me at 2am so we can crack a can" or "I changed my cell phone's number myself" you are criminally liable. Stating "You can crack a can by doing thus-and-so" or "If you wanted to change a cell phone's number, you could do it like so" is perfectly OK. Posting passwords, calling card numbers, or credit card numbers is forbidden on this network. Posting such info will get you booted off the net. |

Packets
Okay, in theory i think this would work on SOME things.
Okay, someone on a website i frequent started voting for someone that obviously wouldnt win otherwise for the Viewers Choice Award (he voted for Michelle Branch, and she won, even though Eminem probably should've taken it)He started the thing up two weeks before the show, which is when they opened polls. Now, he used ezmacro, which records mouse/keyboard movements and replays them. THe problem with this, is the speed. It has to wait for the page to load each time and it screws up sometimes when the page loads slower. So onto my question:
Would it be possible to get a packet sniffer, capture the packets that you send to the website, then continuously re-send them? Would this work or would it just be like click back and re-submitting? Also, would there be any way to maybe generate whatever random number or unique id it uses to identify, so i could use it on things that have id's set up like that so you cant just keep clicking back and resubmitting?
This question may sound a bit off, becuase its 6:20am and i havent slept since like 2am last night. I am ready to pass out. As always, ANY help is appreciated on this.

Re: Packets
or you could just put together a perl script to constantly resubmit form info to the website...

Re: Packets
Easy stuff, perl would do it, something in basic will work too. All you do is resubmit the page over and over, also, you might want to use something like multiproxy to make your ip different each time. I beleive multiproxy has a feature to use a different proxy every time your browser request a new page.

Re: Packets
Okay, but with something like that, would my computer still wait for the next page to load that says i voted succesfully?
I dont know how to do anything with perl or anything, so could someone help me out with that?
edit: whoops, spelled perl as 'pearl,' dont worry, im not that stupid...

Re: Packets
Not that good with the scripts myself, but i beleive there are already many avaiblible. Check some of those websites that offer hacking programs and such.
And no, your comp will not wait for the page to load. The packet sending script would simply ignore the incoming web traffic, and just re-send the info.
Also, you might want to spoof your ip address so that it can be much faster. I beleive a nuking program out there let you send a series of packets at high speeds using a different ip every time, however, i beleive the mtv voting process would have a verify screen(works by assigning a random number i assume)so ip spoofing might not work. Then again...

Re: Packets
doiphish... thats why i wanted a packet sniffer and transmitter.
the survey mob would check the ip, so that you couldnt send two votes from the same ip within a week (or never), say.
so if you get your trusty packet sniffer and transmitter, you sniff away, you send ya packets again but repeatedly change the ip
so there you go
