I need help on installing hardware. What's the catch? The hardware is slightly older and my comp runs on windows new XP; the hardware will not install, it says shit like cannot install because it's uncompatible and it will cause virus' et cetera... even though we all know it's that Bill Gates' multi-billionaire monopoly he's running. I need to know how to hack XP or hack wizard-install to get my program in. Fuck that rich bastid!

1) if its an old computer dont run xp.
2) hardware incompatibilities are not a result of viruses

What hardware are you trying to install? Try using a windows 2000 driver for it if you can't find one for XP.

with xp you have Program Compatibility Wizard...
start-all programs-accessories-Program Compatibility...

try that and good luck...

it says that the driver is not digitally signed... Does anyone know how i can forge a digital signature??? i can't change drivers as it is a family comp (those bastards). i tried the compatibility wizard (thanks tsunami by the way), it showed promise but it still says "THIS DRIVER IS NOT DIGITALLY SIGNED" I might just be doing it wrong though, Any more suggestions?

P.S. Zok, it said that incompatible hardware is susceptible to virus, not cause them... my bad.

its saying that because an unsigned driver could very well be a fake driver and actually be trojaned. drivers are digitally signed by companies that M$ approves the drivers for. this a a safty feature so i cant write a trojaned driver and send it to you. only large companies can get their drivers digitally signed. it also does wonders to let M@ erradicate the hardware it doesnt like.

your going to have to work around the digital signature scheme. you may be able to simply turn it off in a properties box but i personally have no idea since i dont use xp

Digital signatures just mean that the developers licked Bill's anus. When the box pops up bitching about the unsigned driver, it asks you if you want to install anyway. Just say yes. If it doesn't work, then it's not an XP driver.

What does it being a family computer have to do with changing the drivers!? Does your family disapprove of Win2K drivers? I doubt anyone in your family will know/care what driver is making the device run. Hell, the people in my family dont even know what a driver IS!
