i want to know how to make an illegal box to get free cable modem. can u help?

So are you trying to make a cable modem? or are you trying to make a box so that your cable service is free?

Either one is not worth the effort, especaily making your own cable modem...

Service is the key word there.

When you subscribe to roadrunner for instance they come and install a cable modem, but that isnt all they do. Back at yourtown.rr.com they are now sending your house new signals through your cable service, not just TV signals but internet signals. Without the internet signals going to your house you cant get on the web. Since with cable you are always on the net it would be pointless for them to have a per minute charge for the service; instead its just a flat rate. So it does not matter whether or not they think you are on the net, you still get charged for them sending those signals to your house (through your cable line).
Now we have established that it does not cost money to be on the net but rather it costs money to subscribe to a cable service. So the only way for them to not charge you is to cancle the subscription, thus they stop sending the internet signals through your cable lines and in turn: no internet. So if you were to make a device which would make it appear as if you were not on the net you would still get charged for the service.
You cant cheat the cable company.

However: there is an exception. Some newer cable services charge you for the ammount of data which has been sent to your house. So the more you do the more you pay, time does not matter. I suppose you could make a device which would trick the cable company into thinking that you are only doing small ammounts of browsing and downloading. But this would not work if the device which counted the ammount of data were on the ISP's side of the connection (which i would assume it is.)

Roadrunner has always done it this way to prevent people from stealing services. And you dont want to prevent the "signals" because the "signals" are the internet. The same crap the goes through your dialup modem, dsl modem or whatever.

There are only a few feasible ways to get free broadband internet. The most doable is to leech wireless broadband from a nearby acess point. The other way you could do it is to steal someone else's service.

If you worked as a systems tech (not the stupid people who install your modem but the ones that work on the lines), then you could possibly send that signal to your house by "playing" with the equipment during your break. This is slightly unfeasible as it would take the the correct position (job) to obtain the knowledge of what line to "play" with.

Whenever I post later in threads such as this one, it seems that I always have ideas (to solve the problem or help the situation) that are possible but way out of the question. damn.
Broadband is getting cheaper, is it impossible for your to PAY for it? (Actually, im kind of spoiled because cable and DSL are rather cheap where I am, $25US/month after currency convertion).

how would u play with the lines becuz roadrunner would probably trace that. is there a way that i can get my friend who works their to get those signals come to me?

Yea, just ask your friend for free service IF he is a good friend and has access to that sort of thing. Of course most people become "friends" when asked for that kind of thing, if you know what i mean... and if you dont know what i mean, they ask you to pay them big time.

This was working with adelphia.... get a modem... hook it up.. call your cable provider..(they have to have cable internet)...tell them you had a power failure or some other dumb excuse.... and ask that your modem be re-inisialized.... if all goes well they will scan your house and put your modem on their server. Done... BUT BEWARE... if they ask you for your modems MAC ADDRESS at the begining of the call, they are already aware of this scam. The deal was people would buy modems for 50$ and call adelphia with some lame ass excuse to get there service "refreshed". After money amounts were scewed and there were more modems on adelphias servers that were givin out they got wise...
