Can you get into a web server using telnet cos i tried going into yahoo on port 8080 but it wont connect any ideas?

Even though the html iget back is an error, i have shown the possiblity of connection.

for windows telnet type in
"get / http / 1.1"
then hit enter twice. logs this becasue it will fill your screen.
