| Network (in)Security Interesting hacks and cracks. Info on firewalls, TCP/IP, encryption, networks, and security. The ins and outs of the phone system, caller services, how things work, what's illegal and what's not, cellular phones, beepers, telephony legislation, the PUC, ISDN, taps, who's listening, and switches. Talking about phones, hacking systems, technical advice, and such is completely LEGAL in the United States -- it's covered by the First Amendment. What's illegal is conspiracy to commit a crime. So if you say something like "Meet me at 2am so we can crack a can" or "I changed my cell phone's number myself" you are criminally liable. Stating "You can crack a can by doing thus-and-so" or "If you wanted to change a cell phone's number, you could do it like so" is perfectly OK. Posting passwords, calling card numbers, or credit card numbers is forbidden on this network. Posting such info will get you booted off the net. |

I am new to the whole ''Hacking'' thing.I spent a lot of time on school and library computers trying to download music, but every time I try the computer says access denied and I need to know how to get access or a password to the computer so I can download my music.

Re: Can someone help me get a password to a computer?
Well, let's see.
"it's a computer" doesn't help much at all.
Where are you going to put the password when you find it?
What operating system are you using?. What other restrictions are there? can you download things other than mp3s? Can you save anything on the computer? Is it part of a larger network? Does it have any special school software?

Re: Can someone help me get a password to a computer?
If you haven't notice we don't have special psychic powers. You have to tell us configurations, what you can and can not do, the specifics on the software/hardware your trying to bypass, etc, etc.

Re: Can someone help me get a password to a computer?
Well since it is a school computer and by his lack of knowledge i don't think he would be able to use Linux or Unix I am guessing it is Windows. So if it is you might try this
What you are gonna do is try a different desktop because the Admins desktop usually has that stuff disabled. Get on the computer minimize all the windows and press the button 'F3' that will bring up the search window usually bypassing most programs that don't let you run programs unless you put in a password Then put in *.pwl and the directory for it to search in is c:\windows\ hit search and a few files should pop up Thenhit the start button usually located on the bottom or top left side then you should see the start menu you will see something that says Log Off Some name... then go back to the search window and forget that .pwl (also the .pwl files only show 8 characters of the user name)file cuz it is not what you are looking for but if it's size is over 1kb then Right click it and select cut and right click the desktop and select paste. then there should be some more probly just two more One is Guest.pwl and the other is the one you want do the same thing you did with the other .pwl file and put it on the desktop (if its name is 8 characters then you will need do what is on section 2) then Hit start then then hit Shutdown then a box appears check the box labeled Restart then hit the button 'TAB' and when it highlights enter then hold down the shift key and hit enter then keep holding the shift key till you see a screen that says Windows(some number) ( that bypasses most computers bios password protection so you can get on windows) then you will get to the login box now remember that .pwl you put on the desktop put in the name of that file for the user name (-the .pwl part) and hit enter then you will be on the admins desktop and most of the protections will be disabled if not restart it the way i showed you and get on the desktop you were on b4 and put those pwl's back where they were (c:\windows\) and try that on the next .pwl you come to (if you can't open folders then hit 'f3' and search though the directory c:\ then when you see the folder c:\windows\ popup right click it and paste them there ) Section 2 So the file is 8 characters hit 'F3' and search through the directory c:\windows\profiles\ and a folder with a name that starts with that should show up now that is the full name of that user name but if the users folders sharing is set to off then you will need to look through my computer for cookies and you should see some cookies that look like username@someurl and there is the username then you can get on to that desktop or you can find it in the system registry Now if there is a key logger wich you can find by pressing ctrl+alt+delete which the kernal32.dll will tell you what programs are running and you should be able to figure out which is the keylogger then restart the computer the way i said and when it gets to the login part hit that little key on the keyboard that has a 'Windows icon' on it and it should bring up the task manager Click File then click run then select all files then select win.ini and if it asks you what you want to open it with select notepad and there should be some entries that look like
Run= Load= cut the one out that has the keyloggers name in it and save it (also you can remove the protection program from there also you may need to remove some registry keys but see if that works first) then get back on a desktop usually you can bypass the guest password by hitting the escape key then do all of the above and get on the desktop you want
for extra fun you can set the admin's desktop password if you want after you have done all that and have disabled the protection and the keylogger you can log off that user name and create a new user after you create that user then you have a new .pwl file copy it and paste it on the desktop then change the name of it to the name of the .pwl file of the admins user name or you can do it to all of them and only you will know the password good for keeping the fuck heads off your new computer : ) (also take off the desktop you created to get the new .pwl)
Also you may want to disconnect from the main computer on the network depending on what networking system it is on you might be able to d/c from it by getting in to dos and and pinging it with a few icmp packets
there is probably easier ways to disable the protection program once you tell us the os and what protection program it is and what keylogger it has most of them have one password that is set by the factory incase they forget the one they set for it also if you don't know much about the registry I wouldn't fuck with it till i learned exactly what to remove
