| Network (in)Security Interesting hacks and cracks. Info on firewalls, TCP/IP, encryption, networks, and security. The ins and outs of the phone system, caller services, how things work, what's illegal and what's not, cellular phones, beepers, telephony legislation, the PUC, ISDN, taps, who's listening, and switches. Talking about phones, hacking systems, technical advice, and such is completely LEGAL in the United States -- it's covered by the First Amendment. What's illegal is conspiracy to commit a crime. So if you say something like "Meet me at 2am so we can crack a can" or "I changed my cell phone's number myself" you are criminally liable. Stating "You can crack a can by doing thus-and-so" or "If you wanted to change a cell phone's number, you could do it like so" is perfectly OK. Posting passwords, calling card numbers, or credit card numbers is forbidden on this network. Posting such info will get you booted off the net. |

Re: attention hackes!!
hmmm, have someone do all the work and split the profits 50/50? Sounds like a great deal for you. Plus no one here is talented enough to do that.

Re: attention hackes!!
id say hacking would be the hardest way of doing it. it would be easier to get a job there and do it from there. why make things complicated. (is that occams razor?)

Re: attention hackes!!
Many people don't realize this but social engineering is basically hustling. Make like Jay Z, biatch.
Blayz, you are possibly a moron, possibly a narc, and possibly a pussy. Why don't you go dig around in trash cans for cc#s if you can't find some way to hack them? That given leads to the above conclusions. If you want to know how to get free AOL accounts, read on. AOL's billing information on customers is actually pretty secure. There are still the same structural vulnerabilities that AOHell and whatever your favorite AOL free use tool have always exploited but AOL knows about them, monitors them, and tells people that use them gratuitously to stop at risk of subpoena. The safest way to avoid getting yourself monitored by anyone is as social engineering. AOL is like a playground for a 1/2 decent engineer. Get yourself 500 free hours, go online from a payphone with a laptop, built in or pcmcia modem, and an acoustic coupler. Most payphones have some kind of a flatrate for local calls and within the US AOL has an office in every(pretty sure) area code. Go to some senior or other form of luddite chatroom, write down all the screen names of everyone in there, send them all official looking mail saying for some reason that you need the name of the resident at the billing address for their account, that address, and their passwords, the seniors who reply with this information are morons and the seniors who don't might tell on you, just kind of camp out as long as your laptop batteries will last you and if an admin talks to you or something, sign off and start over. Its perfect social engineering sense, preying off of the feeble and ignorant.
The best exploits are the ones that always work no matter what kind of technical standard or whatever works. Who was there person who said that as long as two people could talk to one another, social engineering would work? The problem is that social engineering is usually kind of malicious but if you're some internet access starved kid who has a phone line but just can't afford to pay for any kind of service, or whose house has a dsl line without a router or something and you want to be able to go online from your room instead of the room with the dsl computer, this can be useful. I've never actually done it but I'm about 90% certain that anyone can pull this off; you can build an acoustic coupler with a battery, an old phone handset, and some electricians tape and last I checked a 486 laptop could be bought for pretty cheap if you don't already have one.

Yes it is, but you are giving this advise to someone who is feeble and ignorant themself. Is it possible for the feeble and ignorant to socially engineer other feeble and ignorant people? If that is the case im wondering if you could really tell which side is engineering the other... make your money off AOL blayz, just dont expect other people to do it for you. ------------------ cEnsE evil, corruption and bad taste
