| Network (in)Security Interesting hacks and cracks. Info on firewalls, TCP/IP, encryption, networks, and security. The ins and outs of the phone system, caller services, how things work, what's illegal and what's not, cellular phones, beepers, telephony legislation, the PUC, ISDN, taps, who's listening, and switches. Talking about phones, hacking systems, technical advice, and such is completely LEGAL in the United States -- it's covered by the First Amendment. What's illegal is conspiracy to commit a crime. So if you say something like "Meet me at 2am so we can crack a can" or "I changed my cell phone's number myself" you are criminally liable. Stating "You can crack a can by doing thus-and-so" or "If you wanted to change a cell phone's number, you could do it like so" is perfectly OK. Posting passwords, calling card numbers, or credit card numbers is forbidden on this network. Posting such info will get you booted off the net. |

A newbie interested in programming/need help
Hello. I'm a newbie interested in programming and hacking. I know a little about both, but not very much. Can anyone help me learn the ways of both? All I need is some guidance. Thanx.

I don't know. Is there a language that all hackers should know? Thanx for replying.

Re: A newbie interested in programming/need help
C++ is perhaps the most commonly used programming language err ever...
If you didn't know that, go back to school (or stay there a lot longer, which is probably more likely the case)..
Give up any hope of ever being able to hack.. you're just going to land yourself in jail in about 10 minutes, that is, if you even manage to actually do anything.. which is unlikely.. this is friendly advice, from the posts I've seen, you just don't have the knowledge or the aptitude for it.

Re: A newbie interested in programming/need help
Yeah, I wouldn't go with Perl for a beginner either, specially considering the couple quirks it has that are non standard in programming languages (like special characters to define arrays, variables etc), that could easily fuck you up, if you got too used to it.. Better off learning something else, basic, Fortran were my first two, both of em easy and simple to learn.. I'd stay away from the Object Oriented programming languages till you get the basics

Re: A newbie interested in programming/need help
Yeah; you need to start with basic, or Qbasic. It's the bottom of the heap but it does nothing strange and does what the bigger lang's do only using a water pistol. It's a good place to start. Just do me a favour and never ever use *cough* Visual Basic *coughcough*.
