I have got pictures at a Geocities address that i can view if i type the address in the browser. However if i write the link up in my posts then click the link in my post Geocities says the page is not availiable for display.
What the hell am i doing wrong?

Geocities doesn't allow direct linking. They can tell if you came to the site via a link, and they stop it so that people won't just host images and the like without seeing the banners. No way around it. Either embed it in an html page or tell everyone to "copy and paste" the link.

Damn..Ok thanks, well is there another free web host site that does allow direct linking? Forgive my newbiness but i only got a digicam/webcam yesterday and have not had anything to do with imaging or web hosting! Or would learning html be the better option?

I seem to recall someone on another forum that I frequent who had free webspace on Angelfire. He uploaded his avatar as a gif and renamed it to avatar.txt. It turns out that the blocking system only affected picture files.

This was a while ago though, so I'm not sure if the trick still works, but it's worth a try.

You can direct link via geocities. You have to just change the extension on your pictures to .txt Trust me, I've done it a dozen times or so.

That, or use www.photoisland.com and hit the "Link for Auction" button.
