Like perl it can go the way of object orientation. But nothing is "Wrong" with it. No language is "Wrong". I have just gone through C++ and want something diffrent.

Re: Programming languages.
Back in the day...
When I first started programming I began with BASIC, don't bother, it sucks... even though you can do some funny stuff really easily... I then moved down the road to C, which is bad-fucking-ass (I don't like C++ that much). I coded on several MUDs for a while, and this was inane, oh well.

It's rather trouble some. Have you ever written a program with a couple thousand lines in it? No fun at all to surf through. Hell if you are looking for 1 particular line. (It is easier on computers, I did mine on my TI-89, but it is still unorganized.) As for C, once youve learned that, learning C++ will be as easy as learning german after you learn yiddish. Blech. C++ Has lots of advantages over C, including the read ability and works better with windows.

Re: Programming languages.
Gah! when will people realize that *almost* any language can have a purpose?
Sure, coding 2000 line program in BASIC gets a bit confusing but coding a simple program to read in strings, manipulate them, etc is a complete bitch in C++.
Programming languages can only be compared on a relative basis and should be selected based on the project requirements/goals.
If you need easy string handling go with something like perl. if you need rock solid OOP code go with C++. if you need to build a quick windows GUI go with VB... ad infinium

Writing in binary would suck because its very time consuming to use. Why? To write one letter of code would require alot of ones and zeros. Example: The letter "a" would be 1000111010 This not accurate but imagine writing turn on, open program, run program, end program, and shut down using such a system.

Re: Programming languages.
Im in highschool right now, and i signed up for pascal programming class, but they switched the whole class(they put all three programming levels in one class, because the sizes were so small) and we all had to learn VB. VB is easy as hell, and it is fairly powerful. I plan to move on to bigger languages, such as c/c++ but not until i get a bit of a better handle on VB.
As for taking classes, i recoemnd it to anyone. I have had a VB5 book sitting on my shelf since i was in 7th grade(im in 10th now) and i never touched it. It was $40 wasted. I took the VB class and i learned tons of things easily.

Re: Programming languages.
only if you know the difference between a carry and an overflow flag, you know which programming language is the best.
And everything came out of BASIC, it cant be that wrong. PureBasic rocks.

Once again, No language is "wrong" as long as you can use it --------------------- not to mention nearly impossible to read
