Website income & banners
O.K I admit I am a bit of a n00b at this webpage stuff, but I need some pointers.
First off, I got my own server with FREE domain name. The server is 500MB no bandwith limit (yes I actually PAID for my webspace). Now my server is not just for my website, but other files too. Now I want to make some income off my site (I know lots of people use banners to make income off their webpages.)
Now the question is form your experience, what is the best banner service, or whatever to make income?
Here is my site/server: www.krimzonpyro.com

Re: Website income & banners
The only way to make a supportable ammount of money is to charge admission. Banner ads just don't cut it anymore. You usualy get about 1-4 cents per click, and if you only get 5 clicks per day... thats not alot.

Re: Website income & banners
you could also use pop-up, but then people will hate you. Really its a question of what do you really want? Do you need the money that bad that you have to advertise? or can you get by without it?

Re: Website income & banners
Popups work. Just dont overdo it. Dont make a popup open every click, but maybe every downloaded file. You can say have one pop when you enter the site, one pop when you download a file, one pop when you exit.
I dont think running a website providing any type of free service is a good way to make money. Perhaps if your site gets so popular that millions visit it a day, then you can maybe charge for ads to be placed on your site...but for now, i dont think thats an option.

Re: Website income & banners
Establish yourself on the internet and when you get about 100-1000 visitors a day approach companies and ask if they want to advertise. You rack up major cash this way.
But remember, When in doubt, stick your head in the oven

Re: Website income & banners
I have a friend who runs an anime site, he has a Paypal donation button, and he regularly gets donations. He gets at least enough to pay for the site and for the occasional ebay purchase. Once your presence is well established on the 'net, you could probably cut a deal with some advertisers. You could possibly open a store section and sell pyro materials, that would be a good part time income source. By the way nice site.
