Default BEST PC OUT THERE

Ok, what is the best customized PC out there
(gaming, internet, multimedia, everything)?
Feel free to make a custom PC and put the site here.
Oh, and it's got to be something available to the public (so no mainframes or crap liek that).
I wanna see how high the $ goes.

Im going to break your rules: Sun Fire 15K SGI Origin 3000 series

Pricing the most expensive PC is monotenous(sp?), but when talking high-end server, it's completely nuts.

I can't afford the fucking cabinet for those SGI systems. I want one though. I'd like to put a minifridge in the bottom and maybe grow some weed in there. It's already equipped for massive power usage and ventilation...

Your bets bet is always one built by yourself usually. Fully cuustomizable, and will usually cost a lot less then buying a brand name computer.

Anyone who wants to buy a computer can benefit from taking a few hours reading about how computer internals work.

Intel is planning to release a P4 3ghz chip before christmas. But you AMD and mac fan boys and fan girls don't give a fuck do you?

EDIT: Oh and I don't care too. That chip can go up someone else's stockings.

oh and by the way, the best workstation is a Sun Blade 2000! with solaris 9 or Windows XP 64 bit. Gotta love sun microsystems! If you get the extra large one, (im sure some of you are so lucky) its $20,000.

I've got to boost Macs here. Have you read Dave Every's article on the G4 vs P4, 970 vs ? Its pretty fairhanded, just google to G4 Dave Every and it should be somewhere. The DDR G4s are disappointing though, that was entirely a marketing move. Apple better sue Motorola...

Oh, and even the hardcore PC people have to acknowledge that the TiBook is the best laptop in the world at the moment.

Sorry, but I use a laptop as my primary computer. I regularly use it to play UT2003, Quake 3, Serious Sam: TSE, Jedi Knight 2, etc. A TiBook can't do that, and it costs $500 more similarly equipped.

That really depends on WHAT you are using the laptop for.

My favourite: SparcBook 6500

Laptops are no good for games, they use LCD's. That means they blur like a mother.

My computer is OK but will never be complete. I have a 950MHz AMD Athlon with 2 maxtor hard drives, one 20GB and the other 40GB. i have an ATI TV wonder and a Radeon 8600AGP. only problem is memory @ 128MB.

*This is where I will simply say: The best is [will be, actually - once it comes out in a few months] the new Amiga computers.

G3 [and later G4 and up; as Apple let's the chip become available to others] based, what will make it so damn superior is the OS, which is the Amiga OS ported to the PowerPC chips.
Amiga OS today is still a far better OS to use than any other. It's only problem is it being tied to the 68000 series chip.

But get an emulator and install it on a PC - and you'll never go back to anything else - You have my word on it *

Passive matrix LCDs blur like crazy. They suck for gaming.

Now, find me a laptop out there today that doesn't have an active matrix screen. Only the cheapest LCDs are inadequate for gaming.

Let me tell you this: Cathode-ray Tubes (CRT) Will always own the field of Liquid Crystal Displays (LCD)in everyway except portability and space.
