lets say i want to run a full cgi support server, what OS would i need? and if u know any good software, would plz recommend it to me, thx

You can run any OS, however I would always recommend a unix variant.
The webserver you will want to use is Apache, available at http://www.apache.org/. It runs on most unix variants AND win32. Please, for gods sake, don't use IIS.
Apache has a good CGI module that you should have no troubles with. Apache also runs PHP like a dream.

Apache is very simple, works on windows and any unix variant, and its just a plain nice. I also recommend it. You might want to try it out and get the hang of it on your current system.
