dammit. does anyone know what the �nvalid system disk' error means when there's nuffin in the fd.

It could be a messed up MBR flagging the wrong partition as bootable. It could also be a corrupt/missing autoexec.bat or config.sys file, I think.

The hard drive could be somehow buggered as he said or the cable etc. I've seen it happen if you do dumb stuff like put the floppy cable round the wrong way.
