Perl only CGI?
ok, so iv been learning Perl, and using active Perl as my compiler. First, I have no fucking idea how to use the compiler, I just write down my code in notepad and get it to do the output of what it does, there is no real compiling involved in the compiler what im seeing and my semi-knowledgeable computer friend says you can make exe apps with Perl and not just CGI HTTP stuff but I have yet to find how to use the damn compiler!

Re: Perl only CGI?
#1: PERL IS INTERPRETED
There is no compiling going on. ActiveState has a utility that does compile perl however. This is NOT the standard perl though.
To run a perl script you must open a command line then type:
perl myperlscript.pl
and it will run, NOT compile.
