Re: Speakers
Depends on the sound card and the subwoofer, ask the people at the store, they should know (i would hope so because you are spending a bit of money on them).

Re: Speakers
you know, a subwoofer means just that there is only one (but huge) speaker for the bass. The brain is unable to locate a bass with the ears, so why be redundant with two speakers for a stereo effect that doesnt get recognized.
So if youre able to stick 2 wires together, I dont see a problem. But are you sure, that those sets dont contain a speaker for bass? Then the subwoofer would be redundant.

Re: Speakers
i got a package setup. 1 sub and 4 tweeters. money well spent. its a bit pointless using mid range drivers with a sub, as they cover the lower ranges themselves. it adds a bit of bite though.

Re: Speakers
Yes, just get a set. You will spend the same ammount of money on it as you would the 2 speaker sets, plus you would not be doing it the moron way. Oh and get Bose

Re: Speakers
Get a set. Then you know everything you get will work well together. Bose is awesome. But I like my Klipsch 5.1

Re: Speakers
Bose is over-hyped shit. Klipsch makes far superior multimedia speakers. Bose is for ignorant shoppers who think they can get a good sound system at Best Buy. Just try going into a serious sound shop and asking a few of the employees.
On the other hand, if you're a basshead, try Logitech's Z-560 4.1 system. Nothing will hit harder at that price.

Re: Speakers
Bose was the first company to produce the perfect noise cancelation headphones, and is still the only brand which has prefected the product. Klipsch is nice, but bose is by far superior.

Re: Speakers
There's no way to win this argument, so I'll end it now. Speaker quality is often a very subjective thing. Don't buy a single damn thing until you've listened to it. And please, please spend more than $15 for speakers. Unless they're stolen, there is no way to get decent speakers at that price. If you want good quality at a low price, consider headphones. You don't get the booming bass, but a good set of cans still sounds great. For a hundred bucks, you can pick up some Grado SR-80s that will sound like one of those speaker setups that cost more than my car.

Bose may work well for a home theater. But for a computer, I'd say Klipsch is definately the better choice.
