Default dual display in linux

anyone have any experience in linux with a dual monitor display? im going to use an agp and pci card to do it. they will not however be the same chipset. will this be a problem or will it work. im using xf86 and an ati all in wonder right now. im not sure what kind of card i will add but it will be weak (8mb or less). all pretty standard stuff.

The only way to find when no one is answering is to go for it and post the results, be it success or utter failure.

Dual displays are sweet and im positive that Xfree86 can do it... I just dont know how... but that sounds like a cool idea... My friend has 2 appian graphics jeronimo cards that both support 2 monitors each. He is not using them either, maybe I should pick one up... hmmmm

syphon, you always seems to make me think of really cool things

I've had 2 monitors on the same video card before and that worked fine, on an ati radeon ve dual-display with 32 megs DDR. I have no idea about 2 video cards though.

the really odd thing is that when i print screen the second desktop space handled by the second display adapter is showing up fine. it apears it is an issue of outputting the data to the monitor. also the monitor is going out of sleep and turning on but once again there is nothing but blackness on it.

ATI is rediculous, the have one support number in canada which isnt free. on top of that it is only available monday to friday. I will never buy another ATI card again or recomend one for any reason at all. just a few days ago i was prasing my all in wonder but this changes everything.

fuck ATI!

Its all a matter of experience with a certain product. I could not be happier with my ATI Radeon VIVO 64Mb card. Its fucking sweet.

But.... I do see where you are coming from. I personally dont like how NVidia always outdates all their stuff in like 2 months. Oh well, its all personal opinion and experience.

im not dising them for the hardware. shit happens and there are incompatability issues but fuck them for the support policy. they should have toll free support seven days a week. when you pay that much for a card you expect some support if you need it
