Recycle
Hi. I desire to know how windows handle used and available disk space.
heres' what happen: i have a hard-dive that is completely used up (about 2 megz left) the 'disk-cleanup' ware that comes with xp isn't responding and there is not enough space to download another ware as an alternative.
how can i delete data without a ware(?) or relocate the files to whatever area windows understand as ok to write over..
all in all, i'm clueless, and have no idea what i'm trying to say other than i would like to delete unwanted files.
thx

Re: Recycle
I dont understand, Can you not just select the files yourself and delete them?
If not then remove some software you have have the disks for, delete the files you want and if necessary reinstall the software. If youve only got two meg free you lucky your computers even running (Im assuming its your main hard disk) , I would eighter delete alot of stuff or get another hard-drive.

Re: Recycle
try bc wipe. the .exe is only 597kb, and the installed program itself only takes up 414kb of space. read the readme file, it explains everything you need to know.

Re: Recycle
i had to uninstall a few wares to regain space, then i found a few small progz for the job.
i was told b4 that when a file is deleted, its not really deleted but sent to the recycle bin...
all in all, ThanX for the help.
i'll try next time to formulate my questions in a comprehensive manner.....oh ya, my gammer sucks also, bear with me.

Re: Recycle
Hold Shift when you press/click Delete.
That skips the recycle bin. Be careful, though. I've gotten into the habit of unconsciously doing that, and I've fucked myself once or twice when I nuked the wrong thing. Oops.
