Default Windows left click

Hello. i'm on a windows98 OS and would like to know how to have more option available whenever i left click on a file.

for example, when i want to scan a file with norton antivirus, i usually left click the file then select norton from the drop-down menu.

I would like to know how to put a shortcut of a utility within the drop-down menu.
How can i go about this?

always thankful

The program has to have a setting for system integration like Quarterdeck Zip-It, I don't know if there is a way to initiate items in the menu manually though.

HEY! I posted quite a long reply to this question! WHERE DID IT GO?

If you would like me to repost what I had to say, (it was half helpful in my opinion) then just say so. I'll do it pronto.

very easy in Win98, just go for View -> Options and you can choose which files to konfigure.

Another way is to use the Registry with regedit (Be aware, everything is done in your Reg, making a mistake can be very "awesome" for your system!)
Go to HKEY_CLASSSES_ROOT. There youll find all types of files with their name +"file" or "_auto_file" (not this long list with .* , scroll down!). Open the subkey "shell", if theres no key, create! Search for the object to edit and open "command". There is your playground. If you want to make a new one, create a file in "shell" with the name of your command, create a subkey "command" and define the path to go afterwards.
For example: If you want to open your .exe files with HexEdit.
Path:
code:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\Open with HexEdit\command

command:
code:
"c:\hex\HexEdit.exe %1

Your printer or desktop have special subkeys youll find in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID

If you got more questions or need help or still havent found censes reply feel free to ask.
