Re: ankle bracelet
yea, this really does suck a fat one. I do think it would be a very profitable endevour to figure out a way to rig these contraptions for criminals like me who cant handle being confined to our own personal jail. i am going to start searching for websites for the manufacturers of these to see what I can find on how they actually work. If and when I find anything i will definetily post it.

Re: ankle bracelet
Well the first thought would be to remove it but that doesnt seem like a plausable solution cause without W/E they have to remove it the removal would be noticed and also dont they track like REALLY well like a GPS system? Like it would notice if you suddenly didnt leave a room for say 24 hours. So Id say the thing to do would be to somehow block the ankle bracelets signal. Lead footware? Or jam it and at the SAME time be prodcasting the same signal back at your house and have it somehow seem to move around a bit in your normal pattern.

Re: ankle bracelet
This is how mine works::: There is a small waterproof, lightwieght watchlike bracelet on my ankle, that has a battery powered, little radio in it, The band is rubber but, has a plastic "buckle" with brass fastners that require a speacial tool to remove without leaving any sort of marks. The "box" hooks up to my phone line, and pugs into the wall, it is about 8"x8"x8", and has a rather snazzy art-deco look to it. When the police officer came to my house too hook it up, he called the company that has a contract with the sheriff's dept. to monitor all the boxes that the county has out.I listened in on the call and he told the company my name, a file number, and his number and then the company started downloading info to the box, it was the same type of noises as a fax/modem. that info tells the box if there are any times i should be out of range, and if there are any attatchment for a breathylizer. Now, the company calls the box about three times a day to make sure that it is connected to the phone line. If i was to stepp out just for like 2 minutes and come bak, an operator from the compay would call to confirm that it was me on the phone with them and ask stupid personal questions andrecord the call incase the cops needed to make sure it was me. When i step out of bounds for good,(say like on my way to the air port to catch my flight to Costa Rica)the company would fax a report stating what was happening. And if a police officer had the right kind of equipment in his car, yes He could tell if I was within 100 feet of him but only one cop around here does, and it only works for one brand, and no other county around here uses this brand. If I was die hard serious about ditchin this thing i would just snip it and go. I am not going to do that of course, just interested in finding a way to defeat it becouse I have feeling that these things are going to become widespread and it would be nice to Figure out how to hack into it and possibly make it profitable.

Re: ankle bracelet
Hmm not a bad Idea I suppose you could set up some nice radio equipment and start slowly heading through all the frequecy's to see what happens.

Re: ankle bracelet
All of this sounds positively horrid. Can your police DO that to you?
If I were in that position I think I'd just slip the thing off of my foot and put it in a model rocket. Watch then track "my" location at 15,000 feet...

Re: ankle bracelet
i may be able to help... i know that hackers used to do this type of thing to trick atms into giving free cash but i think it can be applied here. im not sure how they do it exactly but here is my idea. somehow record the call which they make to the box 3 times a day, record all of them try to only record the sounds that your box makes or use a computer to filter out the other modem(not yours). then disconnect the box and put your tape on and somehow make it automatically start when the phone rings. it should duplicate the signal of the box making it think that everything is allright. im not sure if this would work or not so try at your own risk. if you do try it let me know how it goes.
i hope i helped. -tek

Re: ankle bracelet
Hey Jailbird If man can make something - Then man can bypass it. Everything can be screwed with, its just a matter of sitting down and if you have the technical know how then it can be done. Simple as that.

If you're desperate you could always try breaking your ankle to slip it off.

Re: ankle bracelet
Man, those things would be really hard to bypass...they automatically go off if you break it off or manage to slip it off...I'm not sure how they detect it...they also automatically go off if you go out of range, or if you aren't in when you say you will be. I have a friend who knows a lot about them so I'll see if he can offer any advice...
