it is a very well done movie and very entertaining.
it depressed the hell out of me though. it was the opposite of how hollywood usually tries to portray (sp?) people which is refreshing

This movie is probably my favourite movie now, taking over from A Clockwork Orange.

Words just can't explain this move. All the acting/filming effects/repetitiveness of it was a good change from all these hollywood movies.

You see the 4 main characters slip away from being happy and just become something awful. It's hard to explain.

i know what you're trying to say.
they are hopeful and have goals that are coming close to reality. but slowly they fade away into misery.

I liked it when I first saw it, but the more that I think of it, the more things I find wrong with it. It is filled with flaws.

I thought it was excellent.....the camera angles and shots were very impressive...I only wish more directors would come out of the tyical hollywood rules and regulations, and go for a more conventional indepent film....most hollywood movies make me sick because of their lack of originality and conformicist ways of shooting...anyways Requim was very good, I stole it fom blockbuster and have watched it like 3 times....check out "Pi" another film from the same director.

have you seen magnolia?
that seemed like the same kind of movie (same camera tricks and hopelessness theme) just done a lot better.
most of the drug info in requiem is either bollocks or playing on public fears... it is what the average joe public would expect from a 'deviant' film.

In my opinion Requim is an ok movie, but not very original and not that far from the Hollywood cliches. Instead i would recommend Trainspotting and A Clockwork Orange if u havent seen them yet-they are both relatively original, involves humour and are realistic. Requim is not a bad movie at all its just that it cant compare to movies like that- Its overrated.

I haven't seen Trainspotting though I've been meaning too.

Requiem was a very good movie in my opinion. The story in general wasn't anything too special but the shots and specifics of the movie were wonderful. The end of the movie was disturbing. Not so much the amputation and jailling, but the coked up lesbian scene.

If you like Requiem then watch Pi.

Requiem for a dream, it was a great movie, it shows what happens when you deal (no pun intended) with something that can control you.

This is based on a book by Hubert Shelby Jnr, this movie was very good, (and movies based on books, 8 times out of 10 are craptastic) therefore the book should be one of the best published. I wonder if the library has it....also, hubert shelby jnr has written a few other books, Im not sure what they're called, but I'll be looking for em.
