The News
The news can be good for us all. You know to know whats coming up in weather, and some information around the nation and in your local area. Then there is the bad side of it, were you hear false information and you dont know whats true or not. Ive also seen stuff that is true but they over exagerate it. The news will try anything to make a story interesting or more exciting. Ive had my own experience with the news over acting on a small thing, heres the story. I got stuck on the top of a tall rollercoaster called The Titan at Six Flags Over Texas. Well it wasnt a big deal a safety monitor detected something wrong so it got stopped. Well the news over reacted and the topic was "Are Rollercoasters really safe" and they gave a bunch of pictures of carnival rides and stuff that have happened on amusement park rides, and it basically freaked the viewer out about coasters, when the reason i was stuck up there in the first place was because of a safety percausion.
I know thats not a big deal or whatever but the news still over reacted and stretched the truth. They also come up with strange storys that people would have no interest in and try to make it interesting. For example, i saw a thing about women over 40 wearing bikinis.......no one really cares about that but they tried to make it interesting using celeberties and things like that. Im not saying the news is all bad because theres some good out of it, but its the false information that gets people wrong ideas of whats going on.
What do you think?

Re: The News
Look, news is good for knowledge of what is going on around us. However, these cable networks like CNN and Fox just sit and bullshit all day about the news. The bring in all the "experts" and blabber all day. The first 10 minutes of a newscast is all you need, the rest is pontificating bullshit.
CNN is ridiculous, Larry King and Connie Chung just blow stuff way out of proportion. Like Larry King blabbered for like 2 months about Elizabeth Smart when there were no new facts.
Just pick a source that gives you straight facts and doesn't tell you what to think about it. Avoid the NY Times, Washington Post, and most TV networks as they have hidden leftist agenda. Fox isn't leftist, but they pontificate allllll day.
And this sniper crap. They won't shut up, even though nothing new is happening.

Re: The News
I agree, if they have to think of some lame story and just repeat the same facts over and over again and think of some false ones just to make it new and interesting dont show it. I think its pretty good to find out whats happening in your area and stuff like that and just to see whats going on. But it is true that the news is just all bad now, not all of it but most of it, i think if they could concentrate on stuff that affects everyone, not like someone got arrested for smoking crack in front of walmart, that doesnt help me any nor does it help anyone else, its pointless information.

Re: The News
I try to watch 30 minutes of News a day usually 15 minutes in the morning and 15 at night, I like to watch Sky News as it is about as un-commercial as news can get.
I watch it to have a understanding and i watch it to gain some knowledge of the world i live in.

Re: The News
My problem with the news is the obvious and to an extent inevitable streaching of the truth. The 9-11 crap really pissed me off... it seems they focus on really stupid things when they don't have a good story (or one that will get the good ratings) and when they do have something (I'll use 9-11 as an example) they throw it into a sports event... 'BUSH'S STRIKE ON TERRORISM' I dunno sometimes I think that shutting the news off for a couple days is not such a bad Idea.

Re: The News
yeah youll hear different things about the same story. the news or the journalists get 75% of their info from the police or police scanners and other sources. and yes you will hear fake stories just to see how the public reacts, but the fake stories would be stuff like "hire people to keep you on a diet" which aired awhile ago. they wouldnt air fake stuff like people getting shot or forrest fires. after all i work for "The News"

Re: The News
It's only a little white lie... They need to take in things a bit more respectfuly then, but I guess it's all the way the world works. And on that second thought, the media perhaps, is used as a way to get us used to these things. Maybe it makes us decide to think for our selves a bit, do some homework and think twice about what material is being fed to us.
Any other ideas? -Sporky
