Default you opinions on pulp fiction

what did you think of the film?

i enjoyed it but it was missing something for me. it had no readily appenent moral or resolution at the end of the movie. it was a great character film but thats it for me (well i didnt mind seeing mia but thats beside the point). the reason i ask is because its so vastly popular and has a rela cult status.

I like pulp in my orange juice.
I like pulp in my fiction.

sorry.

The storyline ( if you can call it that, more like storypretzel) is probbaly the key to this movie. If the movie was in regular order it would have a boring and sucky ending.
Did you know:
Tarintino originaly wanted to play the song "My Sherona" by the Knack
during the rape scene (Marsalis and Zed), but couldnt get the rights for it.

I like Tarantinos films there always good to watch. Pulp Fiction not being as good as Resevoir Dogs but still very very good. I liked the film i saw it when i was 12 so i was amazed at the scenes of violence and corruption it opened my eyes to the world of drugs and the so called "gangster life". I always enjoy the scene with the Wolf and the clean up. Its always makes me chuckle and it was so well wrote.

Thumbs up to tarantino for another great movie.

The appealing thing to me is that, like real life, there doesn't need to be a moral to every series of intertwined events, it's from whose perspective we see things, a good movie lets you see things from a viewpoint decidedly different from your own, and with the killer attention to detail that some directors are so talented with, you can get a little trip to an alternate reality, which is fun...not boring....interesting is what differentiates it from just some other slice of the lives of a few people over a few, intertwined days......some people are more interesting than others. The clean up guy is my favorite part as well.

well if you liked pulp fiction but wanted a more "complete" story line you should watch his film "Jackie Brown". It's really into the same 70s' vibe.

I didnt like Jackie Brown that much i found it kinda boring. I prefer True Romance over Jackie Brown.

True Romance has some excellent acting and references to the sixties and the seventies.

Pulp Fiction is one of my all time favourite films, i am a massive fan of Tarantino and thought his directing skills for this film were amazing.
I never get bored of this film and never get confused by it, first time i saw it, loved it understood it.

I just can't wait for his new film Kill Bill, looks great.

it made you root for the bad guys. and it was fresh that everything was out of sequence. all of tarantino's movies imo are great.
i'd like to see true romance directed by tarantino. i bet it would be totally different than the previous version.
great movie regardless.

Pulp fiction is a work of art. Tarantino is a genius, I thought every part of that movie was great, but my favorite parts were when Bruce Willis killed that one guy with the sword and when Travolta shot the Marvin guy and they brought him to Tarantino's house.

* In the subject of Tarantino, has anyone seen the Simpsons that had the Itchy & Scratchy with him in it? One of my favorites.

try to watch it again and reconstruct the way it "really" happened.
The acctual end is the 3rd part "the gold watch" where Butch shoots down Vicent and rescues Marcellus. I believe the fourth part contains the gist of the movie. Anyway, they say that it was Marcellus' soul in the briefcase, guys were just trying to get it back to the legal owner, that's why "God came down from heaven and stopped these motherfucking bullets" in the episode with the man in the bathroom. I've also heard that Tarantino never said that it was true. But that's not the point of the story:), the point of the story is that Jules got it, i mean he felt a touch of God and became enlightened ( may seem a bit exaggerated but one can draw parallels). He speaks of what alcoholics call "a moment of clarity" drugs can do the same thing, i guess.
The next point is the decision: Jules decides to quit the life and walk the earth till god puts him where he wants him to be. Message was delivered and accepted. Vincent, in the opposite, as every normal western gangster thinks that "it's weird, man, but shit happens".
Then comes the scene with bunny and pie that acctually has started in the first part and here Jules proves to be a very decent commentator of biblical texts (though T's version differs from the bible's one). His interpretaion of Ezekiel 25:17 sounds a bit kafkasque:) and then ... "but i'm trying, Ringo, i'm trying real hard to be a shepherd".
In the end, we have one dead white gangster in the bathroom and Jules who i'm sure still walks from town to town, meets people and gets adventures.
It's all about things we believe in, decisions we make and shizophrenie:)
P.S. i've never really known any africans or afro-americans but i guess the reason why Tarantino made Jules black is that they can freak out all of a sudden when it concerns religion or something like that. They seem to understand the whole thing somewhat different and take it more seriously. i hope it was politically correct, anyway, just an idea:)

Jules's religious epiphany is the construct of my beliefs. That movie is also one of the best ever made.

Yeah, but Marvin didn't even have an opinion and he got blasted in the face.

Wait a minute... i never noticed that before.

It looks like its' contrasting belief with disbelief and indifference. Of to be more accurate, Christianity/Atheism/Agnosticism.

Thanks. You've given me a new perspective on that which i didn;t have before.

i rented jackie brown yesterday. it was garbage in my opinion. there was no point to the film and the scenes werent even individualy cool like pulp fiction. basicly it was tarintino trying to make another pulp fiction and failing miserably.

About the ever so valuable suitcase. One of my aquaintances from irc told me that it was Marcellas' soul in the suitcase, and it came out of the back of his neck; hence the band aid. Anyway, Jackie Brown was one of the most boring movies I've ever seen, and I'm sure that Quentin is as ashamed of it as the rest of us.

lol, Dark that's dry man. I'll take your advice and screen it again, because I didn't think it was that great after seeing it once.

I did like Reservoir Dogs better as well, but From Dusk Till Dawn was just wearing out a concept that was average to begin with.

Considering From Dusk Till Dawn was directed by 2 directors - there is going to be alot of difference. Quentin Tarantino obviously directed the first half and that is easily shown. It always makes me think what would happen to the Gecko brothers if they didnt go into the Strip Club.

Robert Rodriguez completely turned the film around and left i think alot of people saying "what the fuck".

It has some great scenes and some excellent dialogue (in my opinion thats what Tarantino is good for).

This being my favorite line:

Seth: I know that I have put you through hell, and I know that I have been one rough pecker. But from here on, you are all in my cool book.

Clooney is just to cool for this film - and everyone i know has always digged that guys Tatoo.
