I dare say George Lucas has redeemed himself after the Episode I fiasco... the effects were incredibly impressive! The storytelling was good-- good for what it is: pulp sci-fi. It is also good considering George's limited capacity to tell a coherent story. More importantly, most of the elements that ruined Episode I were absent (for the sake of not giving anything away, I won't go into any of this)... At the very least, it was incredibly entertaining and well worth the money I paid to see it in the theater.

Does anyone get the feeling that the only reason that this movie is as well liked as it is is just because it doesn't suck quite as bad as the first one? Don't get me wrong, I liked it. It was a good movie. But compared to the entire first trilogy it sucked. It was bad even compared to Jedi. Being a big sci-fi geek, I could just smell the plotholes. The next time I see it (and no, I'm not paying to see it ever again) I'm paying closer attention.

I still don't see what was so wrong with Episode one. Take it for what it is, a cheesy sci-fi popcorn flick. I mean for chrissakes TPM did over 900 million dollars worldwide. And no the newer ones won't come close to the older ones, but who cares they are still wholly entertaining movies in their own right.

i thoght that it was unessesarily boring. the funeral and all the talking was just crap. the funniest bit was when the mum died and she just flopped. i found that very funny. and the battles were dissapointing. there was no long shots, although the bit where all the dust was everywhere and the clones and the bots were fighting without seeing each other was very cool.

pity they killed darth maul. he woulda been cool to have running around.

i give it a 3 out of 5

Then Mace Windu takes off Fett's head, and thus his son Bobba Fett is created.

i missed that bit!
i turned around to make an incredibly witty and insightfull comment to someone, and i turned around to see his head bounce merrily away.

i was also disapointed not to see his head slide out of the helmet when the boy picked it up. but i suppose they had to keep it PG15 to get the action figure market aimed right. i hope the next one is R18. i would like to see some type of realism in the film.

Boba Fett is a clone, not his son. in the movie the wierd geonosis creature tells obiwan that Jango's only request was an unaltered clone.... boba fett. i didn't notice until the second time i saw it. i'm going again either today or tommorrow.

i think it's a great film, episode 1 too. i think that i like them as much for historical (geeky i know) value as much as picture quality. i think alot of the actors suck, but on the whole i couldn't pick a bad star wars movie.

i thought as a stand alone movie it was good to great, in comparison with ep1 it was better, in comparison with the origional trilogy it wasn't as entertaining, it was quite linier in the fact that it was all the same mood, even the bits with anakin and amidala went crazy because anakin is a crazed skitsophrenic(sp?), it didn't have the comedy relife that harrison ford brought to the first 3 movies.
the best bit in my opinion was when anakin goes skitz, kills all the sand ppl, then blames it on obi-one. i liked the way he was just a teenager and even utered the typical teenager phrase "its not fair". the yoda fight scene kinna sucked, he was like a gremlin on speed.

i actaully think that it was a bad film. if it didn't have the star wars name, it would have not done well at all. i mean, the acting was shit, the action was almost non existant, the romance was forced and fake, the plot was dodgy and not to mention the whole cornyness of it.

it wasn't action, it wasn't romance, it wasn't comedy, it wasn't anything. it was just a half arsed attempt at all three. lucas cannot write and direct, the empire strikes back was written and directed by other people, and that is considered the best film in the series by most.

maybe the next film should not be made to 'fill in the gap' but made as the type of film dictates. it is about the clone wars (or so i assume) so they should make it like a war type film, with NO bits to help it sell to kids. nothing can please everyone, but the majority of people who will see this will be adults, so at least make it bearable for them.

i know the star wars formula is very sucsessful, but that was 30(?) years ago. they are classics, but i cannot think of one mega hollywood film (recently) that is even ecspessially memorable (except american beauty). these new films will not go down in history, so he should at least make them entertaining, not based on some old style that any attempt at recreating will look pathetic and sad.

well, thats what i thought anyway.

also, it seemed as though it was based on a video game. the chase at the begining, with the electricity thing that started sparking screams video game.

i agree with alot of your points raovq but it doesn't kill the movie for me. i take it for what it is. it's like junk food. you know it's crap but it still tastes good every once in a while. even through all the cheesiness, i liked it. i thought the original movies were a bit corny too, but i love them all the same.

Personally, i thought it was dissapointing as hell. Like ejaculating but not having an orgasm. It just pissed me off. I came in with an open mind, but personally, i think that episode 1 did a lot better job (except for jar jar binks. he could have been a lot less annoying) of both telling a story and keeping people entertained.

This was lucas's worst film in my mind.
