Default The Green Mile

The Green Mile was an excellant movie. It brought such emotion to me. It always happens in Tom Hanks movies. He really is a good actor. It was really freaky when the guy was being electrocuted. And it's true, "It's a long walk down the green mile". Everybody is dieing from the day they were born. For some death comes quicker than it's wanted, but for others, they are just waiting and hoping for it. Death can be a gentle subject. The cold blooded killing of an execution brings such emotion, but the thousand deaths of old war movie, seem almost unimportant. Is it the skill of the movie cast and crew that allows us to feel the charecters pain, or is it deeply rooted emotions that have been caused from early influances.

We can all see ones head explode on TV and laugh, and say "Wow, that was cool" but when we are brought into the lives and feelings of the charecter, we relize that person is dead. They can not think or feel. They can no longer enjoy the happiness of life, and they can not feels its pain.

I'd like everyone to imagine that the are old and dying. You have lung cancer from a life of smoking. You know your death is your own fault but you are still direct your madness a big tabaco. You have only a few days to live. Your as good as dead now becuase you can not speak or hear. You can not move. You are trapped in the cage of your own mind. Pain is still present though. A constant pain a throughout your body. It's all blurry until you are gone.

This is not enough, just imagine being old and sick, a life behind you and now it is over. A lifetime of memories and knowledge all gone forever.

Im in to deep now and I am tired.

Default Re: The Green Mile

It's really nice to see the different

sides of people, Bongman! The medium

of film is indeed capable of monumental

deeds w/ regard to opening up the minds

of people to that which they were not

yet aware and/or for giving validation and

often even romanticizing those ordinary

aspects of life that many fail to appreciate

sans the big screen bringing them to life

in a poignant way. Film making is an art in

every sense of the word. Nice realization!

The other thing is that at the end of an old

persons life, it is not an absolute that they

will feel the way you are describing, though

neither of us can really know until we are ,

ourselves, in that position, how it feels,

I certaily hope that I will not consider my

life or all my thoughts and all my memories

gone forever! If there are people whom I've

met or lives that I've been a part of that

share mutual memories or people still living

that are in part, the way they are partially

because of me, then I am not gone forever.

If I really wanted to be silly I would say

that all the descendents of all the cats that

I've ever cared for and nurtured will be wak-

ing up as cats ready to spend the day doing

cat things for hundreds of years to come, and

through cats I will be immortal. But that

would be a bit much! Don't forget the weight

and intensity of the emotions this movie

sparked in you, not that you have to become

gloomy and pessimistic, more over so you can

remember to live your life to the fullest and

appreciate that opportunity. It is really a

lovely planet, and there are alot of things

to do. Have fun , but be considerate and

thoughtful as well.

ps-the only time I ever laughed when someones

head blew up was during that part in Pulp

Fiction where John Travolta accidentaly kills

the guy in the back seat!
