Yes, it must be a conspiracy that Miss Mulim-Country-A wins after unrest in Muslim-Country-B! Nothing to do with the possiblility that maybe she was just the best Miss there... hmm

You don't see a coincidence between the fact that the U.s wants to use Turkey as a base soon, it's people are largely against this and winning a pagaent like this (viewed by 2 billion people) will do a lot to move public opinion towards the States?

Isnt it as much a coincidence that this is happening when Turkey are stumbling back and forth over the treshold to the entrance of the European Union? Back and forth over another treshold, to old-fashioned, moralistic, conservative Islamism, and a third treshold, in the direction of an even more modern - or perhaps too modern -society. Issues that are far more connected to Miss World than the Us military and their bases...

Then again, she might just be an extra ordinary young woman. They DO exist...

Yes, and Miss America ALWAYS makes it to the semi finals; I'm afraid I'm a little sceptical about the integrity of this competition, in both what they are competing for and whether the judging is unbiased.

Hypo, if anyone pays a judge or otherwise pressures them to make a decision which is not based upon their (superficial to be sure) judging criteria; then this a conspiracy. Two or more people have conspired. You're taking a hack pop culture interpretation of conspiracy and using it to ridicule a very real possibility. And this forum is about discussing these possibilities...

Fox, good point... and yes another very real possibility is that conspiracy does not exist in the judging of this competition. I guess my only point that I was making was that there a vast swathe of means in which to bring pressure to a political situation. I hadn't considered the possiblity of beauty pagaent being one of them, until I began to think about it. Hence, I wondered how other people saw this situation...

Thanks Nox!

Ive been working too much for a while. Too much to be able to partake in any discussions. I have checked in to see whats happening, though. Once a totseite, allways a totseite, it feels. And even more so now!

Very Funny!!!!!!! now to wot i remember Miss World wasn't filmed, correct me if im wrong... music awards get more attention then miss world (well this yr).... o and i live acouple of miles from where it happened this year.

USA would have betta luck gettin a base there by simply givin turkey sum money.

Do you mean it wasn't televised internationally? Yes, it was. Yahoo reported it as having been watched by 2 billion viewers. (Ok, yahoo is a big ol' whatever, but I believe them over your claim). I don't know how many people watched hmmmm, which music awards are you talking about?

It seems the reason you won't have seen it is because it wasn't televised in Britain.

And yes, I'm sure a policy of sticks and carrots will be employed by the U.s. towards Turkey. If the U.S. considers it important they will explore ALL avenues for gathering support for their endeavours from the entire region.

Nox,

Good question. Or... a very, very, bad question.

*sigh* sometimes it's hard keeping up with the mad things that go down on this planet isn't it?

I wonder if anyone will rise to your bait? The muslem world seems largely underepresented on totse, (meaning people who ARE actually muslems - not well meaning liberals...)

Or what's your experience Nox?

My experience is that I know a little about the major religions.

My experience tells me that it is very easy for people to be 'objective' about every religion but their own. This 'objectivity' includes criticism to the nth degree of every religion but their own. Why? To coin a phrase, "My God can beat the shit out of Your God".

Harhar, ahhhhhh... you're not wrong Nox. But I'm interested in, given your experience, whether you could tell me of the existence of muslem posters on this site? I ask only for information...

Turks... I got alot to say about them.
First u should know that im an indirect victim of the Armenian genocide. I say indirect because i have not witness it but have heard things about members of my family and the shit they had to go trough bcuz of power crazzy muslum turks. Hitler was inspiered be the Turk's ethnic clean up to start the holocaust. Without the turks doing that to the armenians it migth have never done.
Nowdays turkey has had a governemnt change. I would not be to surprised if the USA ( cia ) had something to do with this.
Why Turkey allows the usa to launch its operations from its soil is quite simple.
15 billion $.
fo some reason Turkey is now the Usa's bitch. Or is vice-versa?

kingenrage!

This time youre crossing the river - the ocean rather - for water, Im afraid. Turkeys eagerness to become a member of the European Union, and/or clandestine operations by said union, is the main reasons for what has been happening in Turkey lately.

Had it been USA, or CIA (on their own), they would surely not have choosen a more Muslim government, as the new one happens to be, even if they say themselves to be willing to co-operate.

Turkey is right now the EUs bitch, but the EU is happy to rent out their bitch to USA, as it seems. The money may go to Turkey, but to be used as a tool (no pun about the originator of this topic intended) to get into the EU; i.e. the EU is the real beneficiary, as the EU is as much about business as about politics.

Politics is the entertainment branch of business...

well thier still someone bitch.
Wich should make u think, WHy?
turkey trying to fit in with EU?
bunch of idiots. and allowing the usa to attack fellow muslums fomr thier land is even a worse move. Because of this in the years to come turkey will be under attack from terrorists wanting some kind of revenge.
Of course the USa will join in to figth terror. And the war will go on.
this will never stop.
I think that allowing the usa To bribe the turks into allowing military action on thier ground was a big mistake. THat everyone will pay for.
