Default Robert Redford

Today he had an article published today in the Left Angeles Times. He basically critized current President Bush for increasing the United States' dependency on 'fossil fuels'

How more transparent can you get when this is the man who was politically silent for eight years while the Clinton administration raised our dependency on Saudi oil from 40 to sixty percent? How fucking transparent. Who is with me in tapping Alaska? Are we forgetting how our progress in oil extracting won't even let nature know we've been there? Who has proof to disagree? And who out there drives a hybrid vehicle?

You say, "Who is with me in tapping Alaska?" as if you personally are going to be 'tapping' it, when I suspect you'll be paying 1.57 a gallon for it like everybody else. I find that fascinating.

Mr. Redford, to be sure, is an idealist, and a Democrat, and I'm sure that he was not near as upset by Clinton being beholden to the oil companies, as, say---he is about our current Prezidiggity's involvement with them. But never forget that BOTH parties are in bed with the oil companies, and that young men and women might die because of it, so that we ALL might not pay more than 1.57 a gallon. Also, our boys will be risking their lives to ensure that the oil companies continue to dominate that oil rich region of the world.

And before you call me commie, pinko, faggot, liberal, whatever it is you 'true-believers' like to call dissenters, let me also add, that I don't necessarily think it is a bad idea for the oil companies to secure this region. I need and want cheap gas, too. I would just find it refreshing to hear the guvment, and you sir, describe this scenario as it really is, not in the overly moralistic tone that is being taken. This war is about 'bidness' not 'evildoers'. And Mr. Redford is simply lamenting our dependence on it, with his own political agenda in mind, just as you deride Bab's desire for hotdogs with your political agenda in mind.

God Bless Everyone!

Yes, you're completely and thoroughly correct. But only if you agree that September 11th was not personal, but 'bidness'

You should change your name to 'the rational radical.'

Redford and the NRDC were just as vocal during the Clinton Administration,(there just wasn't as much press about it) why do you think Clinton signed all those "environmentally friendly" Bills his last few days in office.

Even Bush knows there isn't that much oil(less than 6 months worth) in Alaska. His dad's administration did tests up there in the early 90s. What Bush is trying to do is fulfill certain obligations he has to campaign contributors and whatnot. Bush figured with the war on terrorism and with it being bumfuck Alaska no one would give a shit.

Listen, political parties are controlled by money. If Gore were Pres. there would be certain obligations he would have to try to fulfill, and there would also be people bitching at him for it.

What we need is for the current political parties to start thinking about the voters first and the finacial contributors second.

As long as money is the main motivator for the actions of our government, the people will always get the short end of the stick.

Nox is right, too damn expensive right now.

And for all of you that think I'm a Bush hater...

I think this is one of the best things a president has done for this country in terms of alternative energy sources. I'm even more impressed that it came from Cheny's task force.

You can post in Green Planet, it is not full of liberal hippes or tree spiking Peta pushers.

Points taken, y'all. And to be more specific, The Republicans and Democrats control us by taxes. Money controls people, and taxes control everything. Taxation without representation, beeyotches. Abolish the taxes!

btw: I am dissapointed in Mr. Flo Nuts, the clown. Why did he have to come apart at the seams like that? I could make a generalization about his folk, but I won't. Because I am fair minded.
