Beware the China foe
Beware the China foe, Everyone screamed IT-IT came from overseas!
Recently I have been finding many shopping links leading outside the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Europe democratic capitalist countries block.
A growing number of websites based in China and Arabic countries appear to be collecting personal (credit card numbers, phone numbers, names, addresses, . . .) information for questionable transactions for things like Get Free Grant Money from the US Government, HGH course all age related illnesses, there are others that appear to be more legitimate, but I intentionally avoid shopping outside the democratic capitalist countries.
The potential problem appears to be growing? It looks like foreign governments and groups can collect enough information to possibly create enough Identity Theft (IT) using Information Technology (IT) (sort of DDOS method of shopping) over a week to maybe collapse a few major economies temporarily. This would have great impact on western economies during a FIRST STRIKE".
Are we prepared? Is this possible? Have our leaders been proactive in discovering a potential IT-IT attack, and providing a good IT-IT defense? I mean our laws and regulations dont mean a damn thing outside the USA, Europe, . . ..
Now when I shop online I always do an address, phone, Trace-Route and a couple other checks before I buy anything. If I am not sure . . . I go shop at a local B&C business.
WHAT DO YALL THINK? Am I just to paranoid about this situation?
I wish those slashdot.org geeks would comment on this kind of topic, because the internet could become much more panic restrictive.
Jadi Reality is a self induced hallucination.

Yep. When those porn sites say "you get to see this site free forever if you give us your credit card number", your CC number is obviously being cataloged for SOMETHING, and this makes sense. "Age verification" my Aunt Eunice! Read what Eric Thomson has to say about the Chinese (there is a book he talked about called "Ways That Are Dark" about the Chinese too) at http://www.FAEM.com under Eric's file.

The only cool thing about such a world is that you would not exist in it, except perhaps as a male prostitute, which offends my sensibilities.

If China ruled the world, there would be no freedom of speech, or the Internet.
That would sooo not be cool...I have to kick your ass for just saying that.

Re: Beware the China foe
China is probably the only country - and the only regime - that could take over the (western) world right now. Russia is too weakened at the moment, and countries like Iraq may be dangerous, but not in that sense.
But right now it seems more likely that China will try to "take over" in the same way as Japan did, for a while, not so long ago. Economically. They are already such a huge market that the western world cant afford to ignore them. Western countries have to do business with China, whether they like it or not, and they have to aknowledge that the chinese government are "normalising" things for their people, even if they (mostly) dont.
In the not so distant future Chinas economy will be strong enough for their government-run companies to repeat what the japanese companies did in the last two decades last century; buy up european and US companies, not to mention that they can take control over even more than what they already control in the so called Third World.
Japans economy broke down after the boom, and they lost a lot of what they bought up. But that is not so likely to happen for China, when (rather than if) they start "buying up the western world".
As for the rather separate issue of the Internet. It was probably designed in the first place to monitor us (wich doesnt contradict the official history about military purposes. They dont lie, they just dont tell the whole truth).
It was totally impossible to open and read every letter that was sent in the days when snail-mail ruled. It was equally impossible to monitor all analog, phone communication. It was totally impossible to check how people used their money in the days of coins and bills...
It IS possible to monitor ALL communication on the Internet, on the modern phone-nets, and in the air - cellphones etc. It is also possible to monitor our use of money, as long as we use credit-cards. Along with the credit-cards and cell-phones there is also a "bonus": as it is possible to see where someone is, everytime he or she uses the card or the cellular...
If we after this return to China, and to what is said above: that if China takes over therell be no more Internet. Do you really think they would close down the best equipment in the world when it comes to monitoring people?!
My guess is they wouldnt...
