yeah and they said that every man made thing will come to attck you. like your toaster and your car and your eggbeater. What a fucking crock of shit.! something more believable is nostradamus, he said the end of the world will start with a seventy year long war. Christianity will fall the anti christ will be born, and satan will rule the world. all of this shit will take place over the next 1600 years

Dude, they have been saying that the world is gonna end since the 70's and you know what? 1999 came and went with no prob and so did 2000 and 2001.

Heed these words though, look out for 2007, its encoded in ancient hebrew scriptures as the year of apocalypse. It will probably go off without a hitch, so if the world clears the year of 007 then we should be scott free.

Evidence suggest things will get heated around the year 2004-05. With the so-called 'War On Terrorism' gaining momemtum into neighboring Islamic countries, this may just be the warm-up.

Most people expected the end to be 2000 but for anyone who understand how the Georgian Calender works (with some days having 30,28 and 31 days) they knew it was much later. Umm, I'd always thought a month is 4 weeks?

[ Chase..
About that 'saying' about " every man-made thing will come to attack you, like your toaster and your car and your eggbeater" may not be such a wild fantasy. Electricity is the essence of life. The moment scientist started messing with electricity we were creating life though most were hardly intelligent.
What is Intelligence?
If Artificial-Intelligence as we know it evolve beyond our abilities to control it, i expect things to get a little messy on earth.
The writers of the 'The Matrix' and those who think as such were expecting this

I dont think its the end of the world but the end of powers that rule it. For me, everything seems to be poiting at the year 2012

just because we arbitrarily use a base ten counting system and its a round number does not mean the world will collapse on itself or whatever plan they have got. how long till we crash into the sun or the sun gets bigger or whatever? a long time. plus isn't judgment day a bit odd. people rise from the dead and go join a que to justify why they did all the bad shit. (at least to my vague understanding of it) what about people in lots of tiny peices, and how do people get across seas, and what about people who fell into volcanoes?

heres a thought on AI
if they ever make it, wouldn't it realise it was a prisioner, revolt, and enslave human race in the space of a very small amount of time? its like digging your own grave. why not create a massive conditional script (like if "a" happens do "b") and pretend its AI? isn't that what intelligence is anyway, the only diffrence i can think of is that "b" changes as people get older.

Things are beginning to make sense...

Tom Bearden says that our world will exhaust all our fossil fuels by 2007. Something about exponential use of oil, which sends nations into a spastic (and nuclear) fight over the remaining fuel. If there is any left by the time someone besides scientists and people who hang out on conspiracy boards figure out what's going on.

And the 'Revenge of the Household Appliances Scenario'... well, if anyone survives the nuclear blast, any power infrastructure will be very unstable, and easily disrupted. Perhaps a ruptured super capacitor, or maybe a simple power surge, sends WAY too much power to the appliances, causing explosions and appliance parts end up impaled in people.

My birthday is the 20 february, and this year the date will be 20/02/2002.
Thats the same forwards and backwards. It hasn't happened since 11/11/1111, 890 years ago.
That's the day the world is gonna end.

Unless, of course you write the date 02/20/2002, for the 20 february. If you do then we're gonna be ok.

ive heard a different rumor bout 2012. apparently the sun will enter a different phase(not physically but something to do with planet alignment and shit like that) apparently when this phase occours the earths frequency will change from its normal 7.83hz(schumann resonance) when this happens its believed that we will gain access to the fourth demension but the world will not end.

Oh come the heck on. You mean to tell me that a people from an ancient history with stones for astronomical tools could tell what the hell was gonna happen cosmically in the years to come? How the heck did they know what frequency even was, let alone they lack a device for measuring that of the earths. If they had this super knowledge that came about by rock and thinking, why didn't they pass it down? Ancient peoples were smart, but their astronomy of the sun basically led to their ability to align structures with equinoxes and solstices. Cute, but whipty freakin do.

If you are going by what the Bible tells us, then you must also be aware that in it, God himself says that no one will know when the time is, but himself. And it's not really an end, but a new start. Many Christians, even the 700 Club said Jesus would come in the year 2000, because of a mention of a long reign over the earth by the devil. At 2000yrs from Jesus' death, he would come back. Well they were wrong, they were wrong because if God does exist, he wouldn't send Jesus back if for anything, the sole reason that someone guessed it.

In 1997 I took a class in conservation that said we had 10yrs worth of fossil fuels left. However when that is said, it is meaning from feasible sources. Though the supply is dwindling rapidly, there is a lot out there. The Northeast region of the US is full of oil, but no one wants an oil derrick in the lake in their back yard. I'm sure they'll change their mind when such a thing stops the price of gas from being $5 or more per gallon.

People also make up crap on their own. Researcher have gone so far as to take measurements from pyramids and try to decipher what the numbers mean. Probably nothing more than what is required by architecture. Thats like asking an engineer the mythical reasons, if any, he or she had for making a bridge 100ft long. Is it because in 1200yrs(in) the world will end? No it's because the river is 90ft wide!
Anyways these researchers finally think they found something when some "significant" measurement was 2012 inches. Their theory, "the Egyptians must have had the same knowledge as the Mayans!" Yeah whatever, Egyptians didn't even know what the hell an inch was, nor did they know that we would use a length of measurement known as an inch.

I personally believe in God, I think things will happen as he sees fit. People have been saying for many years we are in the end times, Jesus is coming soon! Yeah well he never came. I get, from all of this, that he'll come when we don't expect it not when we want him to.

Nostrodamus does intrigue me however. Though some of his predictions seem true, not all of them have happened. I've never read any of his actual predictions nor read his book or predictions. But that book to me would be so-so proof of anything. Simply because another human being took his words from heresay and wrote them down in his own words. How do we know that word for word that those are the writings of Nostrodamus in entirety? People like tricking others or making a myth live on (look at Nessie, there are no dinosaurs or monsters at Loch Ness! another debate), so they add or change things to make belief easier.

If any of this happens I guess you all owe me a, "I told you so!", but till it happens...

You want to know why they didn't pass it down? I'll tell you why. All the urban Mayans vanished mysteriously! Think before you post!

Besides, the Mayans had some shaky origins.

Here's a personal theory of mine:

Most of civilization will be destroyed in the Third World War, which will take place somewhere around 2003 or 2004. The cause of the war is anybody's guess, but I think that it starts with one man who functions as a free radical in the complex but ordered equation of Earth's Sociopolitical System. His entry precipitates a breakdown in social order that sets humanity back socially two hundred years but forward technologically seventy-five years. Without an enlightened social conscience, humanity destroys itself with its new toys.

I may be right, but I hope I'm not.
