Anyone got any files on this. Am interested to look at survivial techniques for such situations. I live in London, UK so am figuring we are next in line to be attacked by the Taleban and do know if it made the news in the States but they arrested 5 Afghans last month on charges of plans to use Cyanide gas to attack the London Underground system (think metro if your in the US). In short I was thinking if they use Cyanide or Sarin as the Aum Sect did in Japan in 1995 a gas mask isn't going to do much. Just wondered if anyone had any files on survival techniques for this kind of thing. Thanks in advance.

Get the FUCK out of there. Sarin gas is designed to be very difficult to counter since it is a military weapon. They made that gas so militia of another country cannot simply wear a gas mask or the like. You would need some very heavy equipment to survive these situations, but it might be as simple as using your own oxygen supply. I dont know too much about toxic gasses so sorry if I cant help you much.

That would be my advice as well when it comes to surviving a chemical weapons attack.

Fortunitely sarin gas moves very slowly as it is attracted to the ground and is visable to the naked eye. It is porous and contact with skin should be avoided as well as inhalation (quickest way to die lol). If I recall the odor is described to smell like a bleaching agent.

I wouldn't be too concerned if I were you, you're a hundred thousand more times likely to die in a automobile accident as opposed to a act of terrorism.

Unless you feel like carrying a full hazmat suit around, stop being so paranoid. I only have a gasmask and light liq chem protection, guess I'm going to die.

Actually VX ( yes yes it exists ) would be much more dangerous and more a pain in the ass. It kills almost instanly if inhaled, and travels trough skin. Once used, it sticks to everything, which makes the area completely unusable and unsafe for human life. Atropine can be used it case of exposure, but would be very hard to inject because of the stress and muscle instability and must be direcly injected in the hearth which is almost impossible to do by himself. In other words, if terrorists use either sarin or VX against your house, or any nerve agent you're fucked up.

Life in London just gets better. In case this hasn't made the news in the States - 6 African's have been arrested in raids across London after residue of the chemical weapon Ricin were found in a flat a couple of them had occupied for 2-3 months. Police have yet to find the substance.

For those that don't know Ricin is the one that they don't have an antidote for - which will kill you within 3-5 days if inhaled or injected and 1 gram can allegedly kill 36,000. Oh and it ranks as being more deadly than cyanide. Cynical suggestion would be that this is a plant by the UK government to use as a reason to follow the US into battle against Iraq as Iraq produce Ricin as a chemical weapon. Personally I think it's a reason to close our immigration boarders (i.e the Channel Tunnel I mean talk about easy access - three cheers for the French and their security over there!!) and no I do think this was an intended act of terrorism.

MI5, MI6 and the police are currently conducting one of the UK's largest manhunts. This substance is alledgedly 100 times more potent than arsenic - 0.2mg can kill a man.

Yeah, did realise the what the toxin was - see the start of the thread. Am laughing hysterically at the newspapers reaction - incidentally anyone know where the Daily Mail got the 13 step instruction on how you make this stuff - had a feeling it might have come from here......... Basically if your fucked your fucked and if one of this crew (the 17 year old's had been arrested - my bad - apologies) has the substance in an aerosol and goes for it on a commuter train or some such crowded area it's going to be ugly and there isn't much that they are going to be able to do about it. With the suggested links to Bin Laden I am hoping my gut instincts are right and this is a government plant to fuel the need for war with Iraq and they will just let this all disappear.
