Stealing Magazine Scrips
After paying a visit to a local haircutting place, I noticed they have a rather extensive collection of good magazines. I was plotting on getting magazines for free, so, do you think if I stole the magazines, called up the publisher, and filed for a change of address, that it would get me a free subscription?

Re: Stealing Magazine Scrips
I doubt they have subscriptions to all those magazines. I expect they just get them from friends and family when they've finished reading them. There's no need for them to have fresh content every fortnight/month.

Re: Stealing Magazine Scrips
Nah, seriously, they get a good collection of magazines that have the shop owner's name on them with the address of the shop.
I've also considered just going to the bookstore and taking the 'try one issue free' cards out of magazines I'd like, but I wouldn't be able to do that too often.

Re: Stealing Magazine Scrips
Oh right, well in response to changing the subscription address. The magazine publisher would probably want some more information than just the subscribers current address otherwise people would do this all the time. Even if you managed to change the address to yours, they'd catch on because the billpayer would complain.

Re: Stealing Magazine Scrips
while were on the subject of magazines, a few years back, my friend and his neighbor got into an argument. to seek revenege, my friend spent a few days going around from library to library pulling out the 'business reply cards' for anything he could find. he filled them in with his neighbors info and sent them in over the course of a month. within days, the neighbor was receiving stacks of junk mail everyday and receiving many, many telemarketer calls. from what i heard, he started getting tons of spam also. this was done probably 3 or 4 years ago, and his neighbor still receives stacks of mail each day. even with all these opt-out programs, you can never seem to get rid of everything. while not necessarily a good form of revenge, it is nice knowing you made someones life just a little more hectic, upsetting, busier, confusing, etc...

Re: Stealing Magazine Scrips
there it is there! just do like jackallen suggests and send a whole shitload of subscription apps to like your next door neighbor... someone who doesn't read. like say a blind guy or a tibetan. then, mow his lawn or shovel his driveway. when he comes out to pay you, decline to accept the money. tell him instead, "but if it's cool with you, maybe like i could borrow some of those magazines you have piling up behind the garage." he'll be only to happy to give them to you.
you're home free on this one.
