I noticed the other day that the videos(not DVD'S)that are sold in HMV and Virgin have no security tags and the boxes arent even sealed. I was thinking of just taking them but i just finished reading a post about how they conceal tags IN the video.Is that true?

in the uk... no...its just a urben myth but i dont know about usa

i would not beleive that unless oyu want free government housing for the next 12 months

They don't conceal anything inside the video itself, if there isnt a tag on the box, then there wont be one, because it would have to be put in at the factory where they make the tapes, and the codes ther would not comply wiv the virgin or HMV codes

Excelant. All their VHS videos and Singles CD's have absoulutely no security on them and get this-they have none of that plastic wraping on them either!! Now the only thing left to worry about are cameras. Well thats easy.Take the items to the escelator and whilst going up them turn round so that you are going backward and put the item in a bag.i really doubt they would have a camera at the bottom of an escalator pointing up onto someones back!Just an idea so feel free to add to it as they have quit a few of these damned cameras around the shop so i could do with a few more ideas.

no, they dont put the tag inside the tape itself, but you might find the tag ON the tape but can be ripped off. and i dont beleive shoplifting carry a 12 month setence.

Yeh i see that there are no tags at all on the box, not even inside. Shoplifting doesnt have a 12 month sentence?Ok.

Oh and what do they do at the cash register? Do they just scan up the item and then give it to the customer? or do they do some other things? Also, you might want to experiment with accidently walking out with a tape or something or the similar, make a small scene, trip and get a tape over by accidnet, anything might work.

However, that usually isnt necessary and usually too elaborate to be worth it. Im just really really paranoid.

Well im gonna try taking some Tapes on Boxing Day.I'll try the escalator thing and just slip them into a bag and see what happens. Then im going to walk down the road and sell the Videos to a second hand electronics shop. I'll keep you posted.

good luck dude! i think that youshould go back and look the place over a few times and get to know the locations of the cameras, and if you know someone that works at the store....ask them if the cameras work...it really took alot of stress and worrying when my friend told me that the cameras didnt work at the local store that i shoplift cigars from....
