Remote Detonators
does anyone have plans for a remote detonator that would use a cell phone or other wireless remote?

Re: Remote Detonators
Yes i do but the answer would be way more suited to Radio Free America for my radio detonator,
However with the cell phone if you pull the wires off the speaker or the backlight globe or similar and test the voltage with a multimeter the circuit you are looking for should read Zero Volts. Now ring the phone and see if the voltage jumps. If so you have found your point to connect the trigger!

Re: Remote Detonators
if you actually use the ringer or the light as your trigger, then you would need a system to amplify the voltage of the trigger, then an ignitor circuit to turn that voltage into heat(solar ignitor) and finnally you would need that solar ignitor to ignite a blasting cap if you want to set off some powerful explosive.
This is too complicated for the cellphone to be efficient, but it is well worth a try.

Re: Remote Detonators
I'd like to see someone try to make an explosive that can be detonated with the vibrator on a phone...as long as I'm not within 100 feet.

Re: Remote Detonators
Sure. Estes rocket ignitor, plus couple hundred yards of copper wire worked for the cobs I set off. EDIT: Not quite remote, but if you look at the word remote in being faraway, it is remote! [This message has been edited by JakeTakeoko (edited 12-16-2002).]
