When you got change, the payphone works with a card. When you got a card, the damn thing work with coins only. When you got both, the thing problably is out of order.
So, my point is, payphones deserve to be destroyed. And there's a fun way to do it, too (more than one, offcourse).
1.find a phoneboot with a payphone made out of hard plastic (the newer models)
2.pour a flammable liquid over it.
3.Duh.

This is fun to do, because the glass doors keep the wind out, and also work as a heat shield. Result: an intense payphone fire!
Quite entertaining to watch from a distance while having a beer with your friends.
By the way, if you do this, be aware of the fact that you'll completely destroy the phoneboot, the fire burns up the plastic phone, the cables, and it breaks the glass.
About 8000 dollars (that's right!) of damage, for you to pay if you get caught.

ps in one hour, we set fire to about 20 phoneboots in the town i live - sirens everywhere....we went up on the hill to look over the town, like i said, quite entertaining.

I dunno about the US, but where I come from a lot of the phone companies set up hidden cameras in phone boxes that have been 'hit' before... these cameras are connected to live control rooms where operators report you to the filth while you are in the act.
