this is what you do:

you go steal a good car and strip the shit outta it. store all the parts(doors, engine, trunk, hood, seats, dash, basically so only the frame is left. store all the parts. then you go dump the frame of the car, but make sure the police will be able to find it.
usually the insurance company will not restore the frame, because it would cost more than the actual cost of the car....(parts are very fuckin expensive). so the insurance company will usually auction it off. this is the funny part. you go to the auction and buy the frame. after you have the frame and the ownership. you throw all the parts back on, and sell the car..usually you will double your money.

Elusive, your topic somehow seems to trigger deeply hidden gayness.

If the insurance company sold the frame, it would be sold as scrap, or the car will be considered destroyed. Either way you wouldn't be able to register it. A way that would probably you more money would be to seel the parts on EBay. Like you said parts are expensive as hell.

At least file down the fucking serial numbers. It's better to have unidentified hot parts then it its to have it positively ID'ed.

I did it to a late model Mercedes and I used a angle grinder to get rid of the serial numbers on the engine ect. but I left the vins because I only sold it to a freind.
