Re: Say you want to reprogram a cell phone....
Mavic, what kind of cell phone? (nokia by any chance?) hopefully a 918, 5120, or 6120 or maybe a Motorola StarTac?? cause, if you can tell me the phone, i can tell you theortically, of course, how to program it. (even without the unlocking code) (there are backdoors to everything) now, even after you get the cell phone programmed, you are going to most likely going to have problems, you see there is an authentication chip inside all even sort-of-new phones that is constantly "spitting out" a number (i'm REALLY tired and can't remember what it's called, umm ask me tomorrow) anyway when the phone is initially programmed, along with the name and address on teh account, the cell phone co, will ask for the ESN #(there it is, woohoo!!) so even if you program the phone correctly and every setting is the same as the other phone, it still won't work because the ESN# that will be broadcast (it's recorded as a hex#) won't match th ESN# that the cell phone co is expecting, in which case you would get the recording from the cell phone co saying that the phone is not recognized and that you can use a credit or callin card #, etc, etc... some regular analog cell co's don't use this as authentication so you COULD be fine (not likely) however, there IS help, there are devices that can be hooked up to scanners that will grab esn#'s along with other information out of the air when smoeone uses their cell phone (or you can try to trick the cell co, OR get the persons cell phone that you're tryign to copy and take off the battery and read the esn# off of the stickeron the inside where the battery goes)(sometimes on the box too) anyway afteryou have acquired the ESN#, you would need to open the new phone, and reprogram the EEPROM that the ESN# is stored on, this can be done with a device called a COPY CAT (they are about $1100) you might find one @ a pawn shop for like $75 OR try a scetchy electronics store owner, or cell phone outlet, maybe for a price, they'll let you "borrow" one... ohh yea the new digital phones.... don't even try (damned encryption!) (well i've got a crack for ONE algorythm, but GOOD luck!)
