Purple Haze was in my brain, lately things don't seem the same, actin' funny but I don't know why, 'scuse me while I kiss the sky. Purple Haze all around. don't know if I'm coming up or down. Am I happy, or in misery? Whatever it is, that girl put a spell on me. Purple Haze was in my eyes. don't know if its day or night, you've got me blowing, blowing my mind is it tomorrow or just the end of time?

Why are you saying this now? Shouldn't you wait until "september 18th"? BTW, that happened a couple of years ago.

I was horified to see MaTrIxSpiiRiT's posting. Jimi Hendrix is da man. in fact, im gonna have a toke and listen to some more hendrix right now.

I love all of his stuff except for some of the songs on Electric Lady Land. Kind of sad that his dad passed away last year.

Jimi's guitar playing was at times beautiful and at others almost scary. The dynamic effort he put into all of his songs and performances rings true in every sung word and played note. Jimi has also inspired many great artists and his legacy will live on even after his music is again termed "passe drug music".

Stevie Ray Vaughan (who died 8-27-90) was inspired by Jimi and in some ways surpassed Jimi's technical skill. His versions of "Little Wing" and "Voodoo Child" are loving and awesome renditions of Hendrix's classic tunes. If you like Jimi, check SRV out too.

I have two original copies of The Jimmy Hendrix Experience (one still in the plastic) and all his other albums.

I think my favorite Jimi Hendrix song is Manic Depression. I just love that song and how desperate he sounds like he just wants to make love to his guitar but doesn't know how.

Aahh. Super sexy.

Cheers,
Lost

Good posts by Canyonero and junglist.

My Jimi favorites are Band of Gypsies and Blues.

I'm also a big Johnny Winter fan.

now heres a decision: hendrix or page?

they played different styles of rock, so its hard to compare them. i find no trouble, however, in saying that led zeppelin was overall a better band than the jimi hendrix experience. as for the lead guitarists? i think ill die undecided on that one.
