Re: Songs often overlooked
what kind of music do you like. your request is a bit vague.
but here is some advice. Just do a search on the bands you like and not just the songs you are familure with. I first searched songs i knew by name on napster untill i ran out of all the classics i could remember from the 70-80s (The kind of rock music i liked) so i started to just run band names. Well now its hard to do because Napster put a block on 99% of band names. but you can always use Morpheus or any of the other many napster clones.
Anyways to get back to what i was saying is you will often find wonderful songs by those same bands that Radio Stations never even dreamed of playing. Sometimes you find songs you fotgot about many years back and didnt even know that it was This or That artist who sang it.
Good Example is the "No No Song" from former Beatles Drummer Ringo Starr. I did a research on all beatle and former beatle members and found that No No song and was very pleased to have it in my library of MP3s now.
so just download all the bands music instead of just looking for songs themselves.

Re: Songs often overlooked
PS...
Dont be afraid to explore. You only like what you are familure with. How often have you heard a song on the radio and said "That song is Gay" only to listen to it a few more times and fall in love with it.
Same applies to all the unknown artist out there. So explore a bit. I find all kinds of shit on napster of people trying to get their music out on the market hoping to be discovered and about 15-20% of it is really good stuff. be one of the first to hear a band that hasnt been discovered yet.

Re: Songs often overlooked
Yeah, but searching for artist you already know is not my point. I want to find artist that are overlooked because they don't have the recognition or the marketing budget of other bands.
Another suggestion

Re: Songs often overlooked
CKY (Camp Kill Yourself). They just dropped off the Volcom label so it might be a bitch to get their CDs until they find a new label.
