Re: Jimi Hendrix
Jimi is one of my favorite musicians of all time. He definitely is a musical genius. He feels what he plays and plays what he feels...(So i think) It's amazing how popular he is today even 30 years after his death. Albums are being made of his material and they are in the top 200 in record sales...

Re: Jimi Hendrix
Let me ask this age old question...
Hendrix died when his star was rising. If he hadn't died and his star had risen and then fallen; would he still be as popular right now? Are we fascinated with Hendrix because of what he could of done instead of what he did?
Don't get me wrong, I dig Hendrix but I can't understand the obsession...

Re: Jimi Hendrix
Same case as with nirvana. If he had stuck around long enuff to outplay himself no one would no who he was today. It was over before he became a sell out, like all good musicians eventually do. Same as Nirvana, If Kurt didn'tdo himself in, Nirvana would have just went downhill. The music is still popular because it is still REAL. Real in a sense that they never had a chance to sell out and go mainstream.

Re: Jimi Hendrix
Hendrix rules. No question about it, he WAS a genius. I read this article about him in guitar magazine. They had an interview as if he were alive. Kinda cool, but they thought he'd be into rap music. I mean whats with that?

Re: Jimi Hendrix
Jimi Hendrix is THE God of Guitar...some have genius/madness, others have skill and ability, but Hendrix had a special connection. He heard things we couldn't hear, and expressed himself thru his music...notes within notes, notes between notes. Hendrix awes me.

Re: Jimi Hendrix
Hendrix, no doubt, is the only classic rock guy I really like. The analogy to Nirvana is perfect.. to take it a step further, what about Metallica? They're alive (too alive), and now they suck. And they're as good as dead for me and several friends- we can't stand listening to anything newer than the Black album. The older shit is just classic.
