You mean the biggest little kids?

Manson is still trying to be revolutionary with the psuedogothic 13 year olds, yet he is 33? or 34 or something.

Korn is still being molested, and Limp Bizkit is sad because all that's left is the sex. Limp Bizkit is frat rock, they're not being fake, they're just being their drunk-girl-molesting selves.

I thought about this the other day. Korn and Manson were once individuals until 100 other bands decided to do the same thing. All NU metal bands appear to be somewhat influenced by Korn and Manson, so I wouldn't say that these two are the fakes of modern music, but the bands that have been influenced by them. Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Alien Ant Farm, Puddle of Mud, Static X etc.

His image and actions help to sell records I guess. Even if you don't like his music, you can guarantee everyone, between the ages of 8 and 80 have heard of him. Whether it's because you like his music, or you read in the paper that he rubbed his crotch on someones face. Yep, he has the media, his fans and the music business wrapped around his little finger. You have to admire him for that - he knows how to work people.

Marilyn Manson isn't actually nu-metal tho, his music is way more industrial than nu metal.

I think that at least Marilyn Manson has a message, whereas a lot of music today is disposable in that theres no point to it. The biggest fakes are the bands that act like they have something to say but don't, like Limp Bizkit, Creed, Nickleback and their ilk.

I don't really think that Static X or Marilyn Manson are fakes. They may not have flashing signs around them that say "Original Origianl" but they bring their own flair, if you will, to the music they make, and that makes them different from bands like Staind or Linkin Park etc.

To the young who find Manson generic or meaningless, you obviously are not older than 30. I, myself, an old man at 33, remember the days of the hair bands. Of course, I probably would never had explored classical and fringe music if it would not have been for Poison and Whitesnake. Give Manson credit, he is lyrically provocative and a articulate individual. Hopefully he will lose the death look soon. I do agree about the age think-Bowie adapted well and continues to produce. Yes, I know the NIN connection; but hey, Reznor was a Lakewood resident and Manson is from Canton so I am going to remain neutral on that one. Then again, maybe acting your age, which I don't, makes you into an old codger and you marry a model.

How could you possibly associate Marilyn Manson with that other garbage?! Marilyn Manson is very orginal and makes wonderful music. As for Korn, Limp Bizket and similar bands, they suck and sound like everyone else. They are the kind of bands people listen to in order to emulate thier idiot peers. And they only realize how terrible it sounds when they realize how stupid they are. Marilyn Manson wouldn't be anything without Trent Reznor though. NIN is the best.

hmm no response eh?

also korn was a very good band who did some new things early in their careers. now i think they have declined but i wouldnt yet label them as posers or sellouts. the fans are another matter all together.

well what does he have to say?

manson, is the biggest sellout band of all time. that makes him gayer then limp dick-shit. (well mabey not gayer then limp)
but all manson has done is spawned satanic bands and satanic fans, but he doesnt even believe in it himself, according to his book.
he done something he diddnt believe in to get big, and make money. thats the fucking meaning of sellout. so he can go suck allice cooper and fred dursts dick, because he i a fucking cock head.
if u wanna know the real god of rock and roll. ozzy is your man.

manson has to be the most original artist ever, he made an image for himself and with that image ppl associate his music to his persona. Same thing that slipknot did, when u hear thier songs u know thats its a bunch of scary clowns, same as durst with his wannabee style, his musik used to be cool but now its a sell out. on the other hand, isnt every bands goal to sell the most records? now for all you fucks who talk shit about manson without knowing anything go read his book and you will understand his inspirations!

i dont think manson is very original, he churns out way too many covers of good 80s records, and his other recent songs all seem very similar to me.

his image seems as though its meant to shock older people, and therefore appeal to teenagers rebelling against the older generation, and i think that with his whole image and persona he seems to stand for exactly nothing at all, which is why i think he is a complete fake.

nu metal is anyone that does not want to be labelled as the sons of metallica basically.

if you think the sub genres of metal is bad then what about techno-electro-trance

i mean it could be

house
garage
garden
softcell
banging
pumping.

what the fuck is going on here

I guess every band wants to be original so they come up with some new stupid name for their style of music.

I'm a metalhead, but I have no clue what the diff is between speed, industrial, and the half dozen other 'genres' are out there.

To me, if it's fast and the singer is a growler, it's death metal. If they replace the growler with a singer, it's thrash. Tone the music down a notch and you have basic metal, also known as power metal. Tone it down another notch and you have the crappy 80's glam bands.

maybe not exactly the way I described it above but I'm in a rush so that'll have to do.
