I know I'm stupid for not knowing, but what does "420" mean? I've noticed about 5 people have 420 in their names and all of them hang out in the BLTC forum. So can someone shed some light on this for me?

I don't know, but I never say it or say I do know what it means. However, I was always under the impression that it was the police code for possesion of marijuana or somethin' of that nature.

Here's a [short] list of what 420 is not:

The number of active chemicals in marijuana.(There are approximately 315 active chemicals in marijuana - give or take a few, depending on the variety used.

April 20th is National Pot Smokers Day.

This happened after the term was already in use.

4:20 is tea time for pot-smokers in Holland.
Tea time in Holland is at 5:30 pm, or is it 2:30 pm? Seems no one is quite sure when the wonderful people of Holland drink their tea.

The term was shorthand for the time of day the group would meet, at the campus statue of Louis Pasteur, to smoke pot. Intent on developing their own discreet language, they made 420 code for a time to get high, and its use spread among members of an entire generation.

I'm sure Meta is right. (He sounds like a smart guy you know) But what I heard is that 4:20 is the average time that stoners smoke up after school. Prolly just another urban legend, so I'll stick with Meta's answer.

I'm 100% certain that I'm right; I even saw a segment about that which had contacted several of those individuals.

meta's right 4.20 is when we are all meant to start smoking, weed smokers all over the world unite kinda thing I never knew it started in some high school.

There's a couple that always get left out.
*4/20 was the first earthday
*4/20/69 was the day peoples park was,in berkeley, founded.

I'm betting the kids in san rafael knew something about peoples park and/or earthday

They might have done it because of hitler, but I could really give a fuck less about those kids.
