Dispelling Drug Myths".

firstly, this pissed me off. [well, agitated]
secondly, it made me think.

why are people so biased against drugs and their usage? [even "coming from someone with an extensive medical background"]

it starts out great, stating some facts that we hold true.

then it gets ugly.
-nitrous oxide will give you "smashing" headaches
-the people mentioned in the title do speed. [every dirty bastard one of them...(s/c)]
-we can't get "real" freon anymore [wha?]
[that's not even a drug fact, but it's false]
-"OxyContin, this is made tbe released in your body over 12hrs...grind it up = instant OD. Same as heroin OD. Makes you stop breathing."

anyway, there are a few good facts stated, but when it comes down to it many things are exaggerated.

that's what happens when you have no idea what you're putting in your body, not when you are trying to read things for more information.


eh, what i'm getting at [or trying to] is that bias effects us all, but is it really appropriate to publish something so biased?

[in the case of medical studies, personal commentary, or "factual" things]

you've seen it on MTV, on commercials, in SCHOOL, i can't name all the places.

it effects everything that is involved in the subject. [lawmakers, drug pushers, you; everyone is affected somehow.]

I didnt quite get what your saying/asking but i do think all non-physicaly additive drugs should be legal.

basically, without asking anything specifically, asking your opinions on bias [specifically in correlation with the effects it may have on the "drug community"] in the medical society and public.

well nitrous has givin me headaches i dont if smashing descibes them but they still suck, and you cant get real freon anymore unless you have a license they have replaced R12(freon) with R22(dichlorodifloromethane i believe)

I think modern systems use R134A, actually. Maybe I'm wrong.

This is an example of how he does not really back his facts up, justs makes statements. I am rather skeptical he has an extensive medical backround knowledge.

CAM, I remember about 1-2 weeks ago in some thread, you mentioned how tobbacco and alcohol should be illegal. Then I began a discussion with you about it, (it wasn't a flame, I'm sure you could tell though it was just disucssion) and I wanted to go back to it, but I couldn't find the damn thread. I looked everywhere, I thought I was losing my mind. Do you remember what I am talking about?

tobacco- eh, i don't see anything positive about it. it give you cancer. [it causes WIDESPREAD DEATH!] i think it never should have been considered a thing to do.

and hell, we only discovered it was bad a little while ago, so basically we're fucked.

as for alchohol-
i think the dangerous thing with alchohol is the fact that people go binge drink and it destroys you little by little.
i will drink now and then, but it's not to get smashed.
it is addictive, highly if you have the type of personality, and it's one bitch-mother to get off of once you are!
but, as is the case with tobacco, everyone's doing it, and we ain't gonna stop.

No, but I'm not really that close to any of my more redneck-ish relatives. It's a big-ass family, but I ignore most of them.
