I got a job at the Post office and i am getting a urine test. Will painkillers show up in them?

Re: Drug Testing
It would probably help if you tell the name of the painkiller.

Re: Drug Testing
no, those will not show up as opiates on a typical five panel test. Painkillers such as oxycodone and hydrocodone do not turn to morphine after they break down in the body. If these drugs are specificaly tested for, the are detectable in urine for three to four days. Morphine is detectable fo at least 84 hours. at is measurable to 300 ng/ml in a gas chromotomography test.

Re: Drug Testing
But this is a government job. Do you think they will go the extra steps to do so or no?

Re: Drug Testing
I'd have to throw my vote in with the urine test. Unless they have a reason to suspect drug use - in which case you wouldn't be considered for hire - why spend the extra money; over and over, for each prospective hire. I would add up quickly. Just to be absolutely certain, it can't hurt to stop four or five days before the test, if you have the time [of course, if you are addicted to an opiate, I guess it would hurt to stop four to five days before the test ]
